Chapter twelve: Stranger Danger?

(Lee's POV)

"Hey, Kenny! This train leads us right to Savannah." I said as I handed him the map of the train route.

Kenny's eyes started to show a glimpse of hope.

"Holy fucking hell!" Kenny yelled!

"Swear." Clementine said.

"Oh, shi- I'm sorry, Clementine. I didn't realize you were sitting beside me." Kenny said.

"Do you think the train will work? I ask.

"Let's hope so. Ben keep an eye on the girls, will ya? I'm gonna check out the train myself." Kenny asked.

"Sure." Ben said with a slight change in attitude.

I walked over to Carley and Clementine and crouched down in front of them.

"How are my two girls doing?" I ask with a smile.

"Just fine. Clementine was telling me about how she misses school." Carley said with a grin.

I turn to Clementine.

"Really? I thought that's the last thing you would miss."

"I liked school. It was fun hanging around my friends." Clementine said with smile.

"I bet." I said with a smile.

Carley kissed me on the cheek before I managed to get up.

"Ew!" Clementine remarked.

Carley and I both chuckled.

I walked over to Katjaa to give her the water bottle from earlier.

"Here, Katjaa. For Duck." I said with a pleasant smile.

"Thank you." Katjaa returned the smile.

"He's allergic to bees." Katjaa said.

"What?" I ask, questioning why she said that.

"I don't know. It's all I can think about. Like it matters." Katjaa said.

"It doesn't." I say.

"I know." Katjaa says.

"Would you have left Lilly on the road like that?" I ask.

"Yes, she had intentions to kill one of our own, Carley. But you stepped in front of her. That saved her life, Lee. You did. And she was going to take another shot at Carley again after you passed out, but luckily, she was out of bullets." Katjaa said.

"Damn, nobody told me that yet." I say.

"Well now, you know the truth." Katjaa says.

I smile at thought of being alive.

"Pardon for the interruption, but I think your friend is in the train that belongs to me." An unknown voice says.

I look up to discover a tall man with a beard.
