[Your POV]

I opened the door and walked into the bar. I took a seat next to the lonely brunette playing with his drink.

"Why did you call me again?" I asked, putting my stuff down.

"I wanted to buy you a drink," he smiled.

"Why?"

"Because... we're partners."

"You have other partners."

"But you're much better than that idiot, Chuuya."

I sighed. "Sorry to break it to you, but I don't drink."

"Why?"

"First, it's illegal-"

"Killing people is illegal, too," he took a sip of his drink.

"-for underaged people. Second, I have a bad memories with alcoholics."

He looked at me, playfully. "It doesn't hurt to take a sip."

"I just explained my reasoning-"

"C'mon~ You're being boring. It's not like you're actually going to become an alcoholic. Just one drink."

I glared at him and a pair of pleading eyes replied to mine.

"Just one," I sighed. "After that, I'm leaving."

[Dazai's POV]

"Just one more," I nudged her, filling her drink.

Her cheeks were red and I could tell that she was going to pass out any moment. I was actually going to stop after a couple drinks, but it was entertaining to see her loosen up from her stern personality. She was giggling and laughing more. She just seemed less aggrivated.

"I- hic!" she laughed. "I have a question-"

"What is it?"

"What's your- hic! dream in life?"

"My goal?" I paused.

What was my goal in life?

"My dream? I don't have anything like that."

"Huh? Everyone has a dream."

"I don't."

"Try thinking deeper, there's always one."

I looked down and gave it a thought.

"To die."

She laughed, as if she thought I was joking. "That's not-hic!- a dream."

"It is though."

"Think of a better one," she insisted, downing another shot.

"To-" I paused.

I poured her another drink.

To what?

"To get rid of this loneliness," I said. "At least a little bit."

She looked at me curiously. She leaned closer, and examined my face.

"So you're one of those people," she gasped.

"What people?"

"The Lonely people. Loneliness is a sickness you know. It's dangerous."

I laughed. I didn't know if she was being serious or if she was actually serious but either one was fine. It was entertaining.

"Is it really bad?" I asked, dramatically.

"It's really bad,- hic!-  But it's okay," she told me.

"It is?"

"It's easily curable," she reassured me. "You just need someone to talk to."

"Who?"

"I can stay with you," she smiled. "And be with you."

My eyes widened.

"Like this," she said.

She took my hand, our fingers intertwining.

Badump, badump

We looked into each other's eyes. I could see my reflection in her glassy eyes. She smiled and I could feel my ears growing hot.

"I- hic!- I've also been kind of lonely lately," she said, looking away and dropping my hand. "I was thinking of getting a dog or something but...-"

I wish I could hear her over the loud thumping sound inside my heart.

Was this some sort of sickness?

"I'm getting kind of- hic!- tired..." she yawned. "Talking is kind of tiring."

She laid her head on the table and closed her eyes.

I took a strand of her long auburn hair. I stared at how the strands seeped through my fingers and fell.

"I'm afraid I did something regretful," I murmered, stroking her head.

I took one last sip of my drink.
