Doctor's POV
"The quarantine?" Clara asked. "What, we're under quarantine now?"
"Yep," Ty looked at her. "How did you get here, anyways? Nobody told us there'd be newcomers."
"Not...your business," Melody said, still clutching onto me.
"Hmmm...." Ty looked at her. "You guys are just giving me the right reason to throw you out. Did you really let Caroline go?"
I noticed Caroline had gone silent. Melody nodded. "We didn't...know. Just...arrived. Not...from this...time."
"Time travelers?" Ty looked at Melody, then at me. "Huh. Now that's not something you hear about everyday."
"So you've heard of time travelers?" Clara asked.
"Who hasn't? Nah, I just thought nobody's done that for a long time."
"So you believe us?"
"Well...I'd need to see your ship, and then, maybe. And an ID."
"Got mine here," I pulled my physic paper out. "See?"
Ty squinted at it. "Do you think I'm stupid?"
"Possibly," Caroline said.
"Why?" Melody asked. "What...makes you think...that?"
"It's blank," he said. "Your paper's blank."
"Oh, good, good!" I clapped my hands. "Very good! Not many people can see through physic paper!"
"Um, Doctor?" Clara said tentatively. "I wouldn't have said that if I were you..."
Ty frowned. "Physic paper? How should I trust you?"
"You...know about...were-cats?" Melody mumbled.
"Yeah. Good friends of ours. Helped us set up the Quarantine."
"I'm...part were-cat. My...mother was one."" Melody reached up and tucked back her hair so that he could see her pointy ears. She opened her eyes and lifted her head.
Ty paused for a second. "I'll give you the tour after locking up this brat."
"Why don't you just give her the disease?" Clara asked. When he looked sharply at her, she shrugged. "I mean, if she's that evil, why not give her the worst virus to humankind? Doesn't that seem kind of fitting?"
Ty glared at her. "Because if we do that, we release the virus that we worked so hard to contain. It's not worth it. We can't kill her either, because she holds crucial information, and we need that."
"I'd die than give it to you," Caroline muttered. "Too important...and besides, if this is how you'll treat me, why should I give it to you? Would you?"
"Be quiet!" he hissed.
"You only want me to be because you don't want me to speak, do you?" Caroline lifted her head and smiled. Her light blue eyes met mine. "You're the Doctor, aren't you? I've heard about you. Would you believe me if I told you this place held a dark, scary secret? And I, only I, knew it? What do you think about how I'm treated. Do you think I deserve to be treated like this? Do you think I should tell?"
I paused. "That's not for me to say," I finally said as we reached a set of double doors. Ty pushed them opened.
Melody's POV
My head hurt, and my vision swam. But I could make out a large room filled with people. They were all getting up and swarming us, talking loudly. I winced and burrowed my face in Dad's shoulder. He gently stroke my hair and stepped away to greet everyone, leaving me swaying. Caroline had hit me pretty damn hard, apparently, if I was still half-conscious and had a concussion.
