hiraeth stared up at the ceiling in Hermione's prefect dorm. her body ached all over, from head to toe. she took in the stark contrast of this room and the one she'd spent the previous night in — shades of pinks and oranges surrounding the place. Hermione's cat had curled up between her legs, its owner and moony taking spots on the bed at the end.

"It hurts to breathe." she whined, a small squeak escaping from her possibly injured windpipe shortly thereafter.

"I can only remove the marks, my friend. I can't make the pain go away." moony replied.

she turned her head toward Hermione, feeling both ashamed and grateful that this girl had opened up her private space to her. "This is a terrible first impression. I wish I could say that I'm not usually like this."

Hermione laughed, "No need to apologize. You should've seen the bloke I went to Yule with during our fourth year." She made way toward her desk, grabbing a large white bottle and emptying a few pills into hiraeth hand. "It's only aspirin. Muggle medicine."

hiraeth only had a few more moments to whine before a knock came at the door, to which Hermione shouted that it was unlocked. Behind it stood Ronald, he leaned against the frame with his arms folded across his chest, auburn hair still a mess on top of his head.

"Just got word that Pansy and Malfoy have been in a shouting match in the Slytherin commons for the past hour." He said, cocking his brow at hiraeth as if to ask what damage she'd done.

she rolled onto her back, smothering a pillow over her face in embarrassment. "Oh, for the love of God, I thought he was single!" she shouted, though it came out muffled.

"Of course he's single." Ron laughed. "Who in their right mind would want to date Malfoy?"

"Well, Pansy, for one." Hermione said.

"— And hiraeth." moony tacked on.

"I didn't want to date the guy!" she replied from the privacy of Hermione's pillow, then groaned. "Ugh, is it too early to start drinking?"

Ron helped himself to the three girls' space, following him was one of his many siblings — Fred. "Unfortunately, yes. Neither Three Broomsticks nor Hog's Head open until two o'clock."

Fred sat next to hiraeth who was lying at the head of the bed. pulling hiraeth into his arms so Ron could also squish on the bed so that the five of them could all fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. Soon enough, George and Harry followed in suit. Fred wrapped his arms around her, rubbing her back as to tell her "you'll live"

her cheeks grew warm at his touch. for the first time since her night with Draco, her pain subsided. simply from the feeling of his large, calloused hand rubbing her back.

"That's fine, I'll have time to wash away all the shame." she said, turning her attention to moony. "Want to come with?"

To which Hermione responded for her, "Absolutely not. Professor Sprout is relentless this year, moony and I still have to find a way to juice a venomous tentacula!"

she rolled both her head and eyes, fixing her gaze upon Fred and pouting incessantly. she could tell that he very much wanted to agree to the proposal by the furrow in his brow. Instead, he responded, running his hand down to the small of her back.  "Sorry, darling. Quidditch practice — all four of us have to be there."

she rolled out of Fred's arms and got up with a huff, "Such a lack of support in this room." she said, and started toward the door.

George snickered, watching as Fred's eyes followed her out of the room.
