"What are you so scared for? She's just a girl!"

"She's not just a girl, you git! Have you not heard her speak, for fuck's sake?!" Fred scolded his brother. "Damn near to angels singing. Besides, after yesterday.. its become a whole lot harder to look her in the eyes without becoming a nervous mess." He admitted.

The two boys argued under hushed breaths in the midst of Care of Magical Creatures class. Across the yard from them, she mixed sugar with water for the glumbumbles she was studying.

"Well you better ask her before someone else does. I don't think Zabini has the nuts to step on Malfoy's toes, but you never know who else has their eye on her." George urged.

Fred watched as she pulled off her robe and draped it over the side of the short brick wall surrounding them all. she rolled up her sleeves and submerged the end of a syringe into the mixture, gathering it up to be used in small amounts.

"Fine. Wish me luck." He said while taking a deep breath.

Fred mustered up every bit of courage imaginable and waltzed coolly over to her. With the syringe in one hand, opposite palm open, she were coaxing glumbumbles to lick the sugary liquid straight off of her skin. she looked like Persephone in her spring gardens, Fred thought, surrounded by flora and fauna that loved her just as dearly as he some day hoped to.

"You're good with animals." He said, pointing out the obvious and then mentally kicking himself for it immediately after.

But her smile brought him some level of relief. she looked up at him briefly and then back down as two fluffy little creatures stole her attention. They rested comfortably in the palm of her hand.

"Nature is a big part of Ilvermorny curriculum. Our teachings were passed down from the natives." One of the creatures drank its full and then buzzed up close to her face, offering to thank her with a kiss. she laughed while ducking away. "Don't try it, my love. I know what your end game is." she said to the insect.

Fred was consistently enamored by her, he had been since the moment she'd sat across from him in the great hall.

"Do you mind if I try?" He asked, and she instructed him to hold out his hands.

As he cupped his palms in front of his body, she emptied some of the liquid into them. "Careful. Don't let it spill." she said.

she corralled the remaining glumbumble into his hands, holding them steady while the little guy drank. After a few moments, it flew away, now content with a full belly.

"I think they like you better." Fred laughed.

She moved to the water spigot sticking out of the ground behind them and began washing her sticky hands. It was now or never, do or die, speak now or forever hold your peace.

"Muggle week is coming up." He blurted out, loudly and completely uncoordinated. She turned to look at him with interest. "It's just a thing they do to help the muggle born students feel more at home. Daily activity, themes, things of the sorts."

she cocked an eyebrow, looking genuinely intrigued as she slid her robe back over her shoulders, so he continued.

"First day is movie night. Everyone loads onto the training grounds and they project an old slasher film onto the side of the castle. Last year they showed An American Werewolf in London."

Fred remembered that movie well. He'd curled up beside Angelina Johnson on the lawn with intentions of stealing a few kisses once the sun set completely. Unfortunately for him, what might have been a horror show for muggles turned out to be a comedy for wizards, and the two of them were left with aching bellies by the time the night was over from laughing so hysterically.
