charms was her last class of the day. she was happy to take a seat beside Hermione and, after complaining about the hard water in the girls community showers, Hermione offered her the password to the prefect bath on the condition that she'd only visit it late at night.
So late that evening, that's exactly what she did. she carried along a cigarette hand rolled with salvia leaves and undressed with every step taken.
The water was eternally warm. It was nice, sinking her tired body into the overwhelming heat. Steam surrounded her as she used her wand as a lighter, leaning back against the marble siding and inhaling until her lungs ached. her high wouldn't be too strong, as the leaves weren't dehydrated, but it would be enough to take the edge off of a generally stressful existence.
Two more hits and she knew that you was no longer alone. she heard the door around the corner open, then heavy footsteps coming down the short corridor.
"Earned that prefect badge already, have you?"
she opened her eyes to see Fred Weasley standing across the room. His arms folded square across his chest and a grin hanging onto his face.
she took another hit and then extended her hand toward him. "Keep this a secret and I'll make it worth your while."
He pulled his shirt over his head and began unbuckling his belt.
Steam rose around her and Fred while they sat near each other in the massive bath. He was careful not to let his withering fingertips touch hers as they passed the laced cigarette back and forth. The water surrounding her was just warm enough to turn an opaque milky white and, even though Fred had kept his boxers on out of respect, her quickly fleeting self control caused her to sneak a few glances toward his lap anyways.
"You're a skilled negotiator, hiraeth, I'll give ya that." He said, holding the cigarette out in front of him and staring at it with absolute adoration. "Ever considered making a career out of it?"
"What, like a hostage negotiator?"
she reached out and plucked the paraphernalia out of his hand, taking a nice, long drag. The moment he'd pulled his shirt off, she'd realized that he was a true ginger — freckles dotted against smooth, porcelain skin. he let out a light chuckle in response.
The high was settling in and rocking her very existence back and forth. That alone was enough to be thankful for. Growing up in the wizarding world was a lot like knowing two different languages from birth. Sometimes she forgot which world she was currently in.
"got any siblings?" He asked. she nodded "Are the two of you close?"
Another nod. she rested backward in the water, covering her breasts with one arm as she floated lazily to the surface. The stained glass ceiling was beginning to morph as she reached the peak of her very subtle high, colors blending and molding together.
"What about your parents?" Fred asked.
she rolled her head toward him and scoffed, "They don't even know I exist." Remnants of the truth lingered in the statement. "It's kinda just me and my sister these days."
her head lulled back toward the ceiling and Fred joined her for the show. The high didn't last long, only ten minutes or so, and when it was over he couldn't suppress the urge to poke a bit of fun at her.
"Whispers in the hallways claim that Malfoy has taken a liking to you." Fred said. He nudged his boney elbow into her bare ribs in an attempt to cheer her up, and the gesture worked to a certain extent.
