"Just a question," Leia said, sitting cross-legged beside Ezra's bedside. "How old are you?"
"Fifteen," Ezra replied, sitting up in the bed beside her. His voice was rough from disuse. He was no longer hooked up to anything, but he couldn't stand yet, so he stayed in bed.
"Me too!" Leia laughed. "That's so ironic!"
"I know," Ezra replied.
"So, how'd you even get into space?" Leia asked.
"It's a long story," Ezra sighed, "that's going to need a lot of explaining."
"We've got time," Leia replied. Ezra sighed, trying to figure out where to start.
"There's one thing you should know before I start," he said.
"Okay," Leia agreed.
"...I am a Jedi." Leia almost laughed, but then saw that he was serious.
"You're not joking," she said. Ezra shook his head. "But I thought the Jedi were killed off."
"Not all of them," Ezra replied. "My master and I were the-" He stopped for a second. "Are the only two left."
"That you know of," Leia added.
"Excuse me?" Ezra asked.
"My dad told me of a couple Jedi in hiding," she said. "He didn't say exactly where, just in the Outer Rim."
"They're probably dead," Ezra said. "There's only a couple planets the Empire can't get to, and they're uninhabitable."
"Yeah," she said. "So, you were going to tell me a story?"
"Yeah," Ezra sighed. Then he told her everything he remembered, from the time they found Ahsoka and Boba up until he got blasted into space. Leia sat there in silence the whole time, stunned.
"Wow," she said when he was done. "Just...wow." Ezra wiped his eyes, slowly leaning back.
"Im tired," he sighed.
"Okay," Leia replied, standing up and walking out. "Thanks for the story, Ezra."
"Sure," he replied, pushing the heels of his hands into his eyes. "No problem." Leia had a feeling as she closed the door that it really was a problem.
