Alderaan could not have been a better place to help Ezra heal. Its tropical climate and pleasant weather kept him energized. He and Leia took walks through her palace every day, each consecutive one getting longer by the day. It had been a month since Leia had rescued him, and he was doing much better. Today, since it was raining, they stayed inside, watching the storm from a balcony.
"How are you feeling today?" Leia asked, looking over at Ezra. Ezra shrugged.
"Physically? Fine," he said, tossing his hair out of his face. He'd let it grow out long while he was with Leia.
"How about emotionally?" Leia asked, setting her hand on his. Ezra sighed, staring out into the sheets of rain.
"Broken," he replied. "Completely and utterly broken."
"Awww," Leia said, leaning her head on his shoulder. "What's bugging you?"
"Everything," Ezra replied. "I mean, my family thinks I'm dead, and one of them already is, maybe two." He looked down at the balcony, closing his eyes. "I've caused so much pain." Leia didn't know how to respond. She looked over at him, unable to comprehend the guilt and agony that was etched into the lines of his face like scars.
"It's not you," she said after a while. "It's the Empire doing this to you." Ezra scoffed.
"Well, they have their reasons," he said. "I don't blame them for trying to make my life miserable." He turned around, leaning his back on the balcony.
"Hey," Leia said, sitting on the balcony beside him. "It'll get better. I mean, where can you go but up?" She smiled, making him smile slightly.
"Guess you're right," he said.
"Knew it," Leia replied, jumping off the balcony and pulling Ezra with. "Come on."
"Where are we going?" he asked, stumbling forwards a bit.
"I dunno," Leia replied, running towards the hangar. "Where do you wanna go?"
"Wherever you go," he said. "Or..." He stopped, closing his eyes. He reached out with the Force, searching for anyone he knew. Suddenly a planet came to him and he burst out its name: "Tatooine!"
"Tatooine?" Leia asked. "That dust ball?"
"I can sense someone," he said, jogging up to an X-Wing and climbing into it. "Cmon, it'll be fun." Leia shrugged.
"Okay," she agreed, climbing into the ship behind him. "Take us away."
"With pleasure," Ezra said, taking the ship off and flying away.-----------
