- TAMAKI -
I'VE barely slept.
As the room starts to brighten with the approaching morning sun, I am already awake - twisting and turning underneath the heavy covers. Kiba never showed up, despite telling me that he would. His side of the bed remains neat and cold, just as I had left it for him hours ago. He didn't even bother checking-up on me.
We've gotten into fights or found ourselves in tense situations before, but he's never left me to brood through the night alone like he did this time. Not once.
Until now.
I can hear Akamaru's soft exhales as he sleeps on the fuzzy rug just beside the bed. With a heavy sigh, I push the covers off of my tired body. I ignore the inviting calls the mattress gives me, to persuade me into staying in bed and sleep the entire morning away. Instead, I pull myself up to my feet. I don't feel good enough to sleep, anyway.
I tiptoe across the bedroom; towards the closet I share with Kiba. After a minute of searching for what I want, I pull out one of his favourite hoodies and slip it over my nightgown. The burgundy hoodie is way too big for me, but bringing up the too-long sleeves up to my elbows works like a charm. I've been wearing his clothes quite frequently lately, so I know my way around them already.
Kiba's barely home, after all. Wearing his clothes makes me feel better, as even his scent lingers in the cotton long enough for me to be able to cope. Sure, I might have gotten used to spending long afternoons and boresome evenings alone because he's so caught up with his job... But, these past few nights have been different.
Even when he's home, I still feel alone.
Pushing away the thought, I make my way towards the kitchen with cautious footsteps, whilst trying to get rid of my negative mindset. After peering around the corner, I am fast to realise that he isn't there. And so, I continue my search for my boyfriend.
I find him inside the living room. Asleep on the couch.
He's sprawled across the sofa, lying on his stomach. I can hear the light snores to leave his parted lips with each rhythmic exhale he gives. Now that I can actually see him clearly - unlike last night, I notice that the dark circles underneath his eyes have finally started to fade. He looks much better than he did just a few days prior.
The cold he had caught from Naruto seems to have loosened its hold on him, finally. I was growing worried, but it seems that it was for nothing - thank God. He acts like a baby whenever he catches even a mild fever, after all!
My eyes are unable to tear away from him as he sleeps. I inch even closer to him now, eyeing his smooth, tan skin. The rosy colour to linger on his cheek is prominent, and when I lovingly rest the tips of my fingers against it - I can feel the warmth that blazes on it.
