TAMAKI surveyed the peculiar trio.
Warm caramel-brown eyes warily flickered over every face to reside within the room. She didn't recognize the handsome raven-haired male who was lounging in the chair next to the bed. He sat upright at the sight of her, ebony eyes trailing over her frame with curiosity that could best be described as blatant. He eyed her from head to toe - twice. Up and down, the bold fierceness caused for malaise to settle inside the pit of her stomach.
She quickly turned her focus to the next person instead, trying her best to ignore the questionable pounding his staring invoked in her heart.
Her gaze fell upon the girl, now. Tamaki's brows knit tightly together as she studied her. The face to stare back at her seemed familiar, despite the fact that she couldn't quite recollect where exactly she had seen it before. Her features were pretty and gentle, no matter that her lips pressed together into a stern line of enmity when their eyes connected.
Finally, Tamaki allowed for her eyes to find their resting place upon the rather baffled expression of her ex-boyfriend.
Kiba was outright gawking at her from across the room, his lips parting and closing, like a damn fish washed ashore and fighting for its life. No words came out.
"Hi... How are you?", she broke the heavy silence first, clutching the bouquet of flowers closer to her chest. The girl to stand next to his bed shifted from one foot to another in evident discomfort. Swallowing the runny saliva to gather inside her mouth, Tamaki took a hestitant step forward.
"Hi, Tam.", Kiba spoke after an entire aeon, his voice oddly dull. "Better." A double-edged sword - the answer. The other two said nothing.
Her former lover gave a nervous glance to the girl who slowly eased herself closer to him, now - lessening the distance between them with each cautious centimeter. Like an animal protective of its territory, Kiba reached for her hand before tugging on it lightly; gently. Made her sit down onto the narrow bed, right next to him. And even when she did, he still didn't let go of her. Instead, his fingers intertwined with her own; so tightly that his knuckles flashed stark white at the brunette across the room. A message. Clear and patent.
So, that was his soulmate. The sudden lump to form inside Tamaki's throat proved terribly hard to swallow.
"I, uh...", she trailed off, nearly cringing at the thick awkwardness to fall upon the room, "I came to see you, because... I-I wanted to apologize."
"Okay.", was all Kiba provided in answer, the tone eerily dry. She couldn't quite fathom the change in the person she once knew better than the back of her own hand. He had turned so uncharacteristically stingy with words, that the quiet snort to come from the raven-haired Uchiha was deemed entirely justified. The sound was nothing short from derisive.
