Peter

The summer came quickly and Peter was the happier he's ever been. After the proposal Michelle and him where more in love than ever, their families took the news about their engagement pretty good, they all were happy for them although they had some concerns about their young age.

Michelle's birthday was coming up and Peter had planned a surprise birthday party with all their old friends from high school and the new friends they made in NYU. 

It was so difficult to keep a secret from her because she always can tell when he's lying but he was determined to surprise her for her birthday and not spoil anything. Betty and Ned were in charge of the decoration of the house and Peter was in charge of the catering.

The day of her birthday Michelle was at work all morning so Peter had time to prepare for the party. The guests start arriving at four since Michelle was coming home from work at five. Peter was so happy with the result. The house looked wonderful, the guests were all here and the food he ordered looked delicious. He couldn't wait to see her reaction when she enters the house, he had already told Ned to film her so he can have it forever.

It was already five thirty and Michelle wasn't home yet. He tried to call her but her phone went straight to voicemail. Something that was weird for Michelle because she was never leaving her phone uncharged. Peter was at the kitchen trying to call Michelle, when May come behind him and she noticed how tense he was when he turned to look at her.

"everything okay Peter?" she said and gave him a warm smile.

" MJ doesn't answer her phone and she's already late, so I think I should go over ther-" his phone rang and he didn't recognize the number. There was a voice of a polite woman on the other end if the line.

"Hello, my name is Alex James and I'm calling from nyu community hospital. Is this Peter Parker I'm talking?" Peters heart was ready to explode. He didn't need spidey senses to know what this phone call was about.

"yes" it was the only thing he could say.

"Mr Parker we're calling because you are the emergency contact for Michelle Jones." Peters heart break the minute the woman said Michelle's name. His breathing got faster and he start panicking. May who was standing next to him put her hand on his shoulder and whispered to him if everything is okay.

" yes...Mi- Michelle Jones is my fiancé. Why? what happened is she okay? Where...where is she?"

" Mr Parker, there was a robbery and your fiancé was the victim, she was stubbed and she's currently under surgery. It's better if you come over her-" but Peter wasn't listening anymore, he dropped the phone on the floor and his knees were weak so he just sank on the floor with his knees in his chest. He knew he needed to leave, he needed to go to the hospital but he couldn't move.

"Peter, what's going on?" May asked and she kneeled in front of him on the floor, cherishing his arm, trying to comfort him. Now the other guests were paying attention and gathered next to Peter waiting for his answer. Tears start running down his cheeks.

"May...MJ she.. she is in the hospital..a robbery" he couldn't speak, he was afraid that the words will make it more real than already is.

"Peter calm down and go to the hospital. I'll drive MJs parents and we'll find you there. Go Peter." May gave him a hug and kissed him on the cheek. Peter stood up and vanished as fast as he could from the house. He needed to go to her. To see if she's okay.

When he arrived at the hospital he went to the emergency room and asked for Michelle. They lead him to a waiting room and told him to wait for a doctor to come in and inform him. Few minutes pass and for Peter looked like a century, when the doctor came to find him.

"So Mr Parker, your friend was injured during a robbery today, you'll need to talk to the police about details about the robbery. But Ms Jones was stubbed twice in the abdomen and she lost a lot of blood. Now we were able to stop the bleeding but because of the extension of her injuries we can't know when she'll wake up or if she wake up" Peter stopped breathing at the last sentence and he looked at the doctor

"I- if?"

"because she lost a lot of blood we don't know the effects that this will have in her brain function. The next 48 hours are pretty crucial." He couldn't believe that this was happening, that his MJ might never wake up again. He was hyperventilating, he needed to see her.

"can i see her please?" he said with his voice breaking at the end. The doctor hesitated at first but as he saw Peters terrified and desperate look, he smiled at him softly and lead him to the room Michelle was in.

"You have 5 minutes Mr. Parker" the doctor said and left the room, leaving Peter alone with an injured MJ in the room. Peter looked over at the bed where she was laying and he moved close to her. She was hooked up to so many machines that were making noise but that didn't make it difficult at all for him to hear her heart. He could recognize the beat of her heart from miles away. He looked at her face and she looked so peaceful, like she was sleeping. He sat in the chair next to her and hold her hand in his carefully, leading it to his face and pressing his lips softly in her palm. He started crying the minute his lips touched her skin.

"please Em don't leave me, I can't do this without you" sobs cracked his entire body, he was shaking as he rested his head on the side of her bed, crying and kissing her hand again and again.

"come back to me, I love you. Please come back to me"

When May and MJs parents arrived to the hospital, Peter explained everything to them and then started crying again in Mays arms. After a while the police came to talk to MJs parents and Peter. The police told them that they haven't find the person who did this yet but their investigation was going well. The criminal wanted to rob MJ but he panicked because Michelle start screaming so he stubbed her took her purse and run away. The witnesses saw a white tall man with a baseball hat running away from Michelle but they couldn't see any of his facial features. Peter was listening very carefully every detail the police were saying. He was determent to find this person, no matter what.

After a week, Michelle was still in coma and Peter was losing himself a little more every day. He was only leaving the hospital to go haunt the guy that did this and that only when May was with Michelle. He couldn't eat or sleep or talk to anyone. He was blaming himself because what's the point of being a superhero if you can't protect your loved ones.

"Peter you need some sleep, please go home have some rest and come again later. I'll be here with her, you nee-"

"I'm not going anywhere May. I can't leave her" he said and he took Michelle's hand in his, kissing the spot of her finger where her ring should have been. The doctors have removed it and gave it to Peter and he had it on his pocket all the time, as a reminder that she'll be okay and they will have a future together.

"for a few hours Peter, you're exhausted, you haven't slept for a week"

"I'm not leaving" he said again and May knew there was no way she can convince him, so she gave up trying, she sighed and left him alone with Michelle.
