Shinobu x Fem! reader.

Mission

It'd been two weeks since you and Shinobu had first met. You'd both grown very close in such a short time, you undoubtedly loved her, but you'd kept your feelings for her a secret in fear she would not return your feelings of affection.

"Y/n! Y/n! Ne, Y/n!" A sweet voice you would recognize anywhere as Shinobus' called out. "Yoo-hoo, Y/n~" Shinobu sang as she poked your shoulder to get your attention.

"Yeah?" You asked with a soft smile on your lips as all your stress disappeared, her voice never failed to calm you, it was like magic.

"I have a question." Shinobu said.

"What is it?"

"Can you come with me on a mission? Tomioka's not available right now." She explained.

"Sure!" You replied quickly, You weren't going to miss out on this opportunity, it was free time with the person you loved.

"Great! Follow me!" She cheerfully responded, grabbing my hand and dragging me away, you loved when she grabbed my hand, it was such a simple yet affectionate touch. She let go and kept walking into a nearby forest. "We should be there soon." She stated, smiling as she nodded her head.

"Alright." You said smiling, you really liked her, you were also starting to think you were in love.

"Here we are!" She said cheerfully, I stared at what looked like a ghostown though I could see some remaining inhabitants, they were mostly just rats and vermin though.

"What's this?" You asked, scanning the near deserted town, walking up to a nearby home and knocking on the door... Or at least what was left of a door. You shuddered as you heard tiny rats feet run as someone approached the door.

"Are you the demon slayers?" A tiny old woman opened the door, her grey hair tied up into a messy bun.

"At your service, ma'am!" You replied bowing your head to her deeply, which made your cheeks take a crimson tone as you heard Shinobu giggle.

"It's good you came quickly, our town loses three people every night! We were such a lovely little place until that demon started taking people away!" The old lady explained frantically. "It's been a week, all the demon slayers sent here have also disappeared." She shook her head and sighed.

"Don't worry, we'll take care of it!" Shinobu reassured, reaching out and clasping the old ladys' hand between hers.

"Oh thank you, why don't you come in and rest, the demon has been calm the last few days, I have an extra futon." The old lady said, welcoming you into her tiny, very tiny home. "I'll go grab it wait here." She walked off to a small drawer, pulling out a surprisingly clean futon and stuffing it under her arm. "Oh my, that might be a problem, I only have one futon!"

"That's alright, we'll share!" Shinobu exclaimed happily.

"..." You could feel the blush coming on, hiding your face in your hands,

"Is that alright, Y/n? If you'd like I can sleep on the floor."

"Y-yeah sure... It's fine..." You managed to squeak.

(Y/n's POV)

It was night now, the moon shone brightly through the old ladys' home.

"There we go!" I said as I proudly looked at the neatly set up futon on the dirt-caked floor.

"Wow, y/n, you're so neat!" Shinobu praised as she looked upon my work. She took off her shoes and haori getting comfortable under the red and white koi patterned blanket. "Alright, there's enough space for the two of us, come on!"

"Alright," I said quietly slipping out of my boots and pulling off my haori as I joined her.

"Goodnight, Y/n~" Shinobu spoke softly.

"Goodnight, Shinobu." I whispered, looking over at her features illuminated by the moonlight, she'd already fallen asleep. 'Stop staring you creep! It's weird to watch someone sleep!' I told myself, looking the out the window, it'd begun to rain. "Yeah, because it needed to get even more cold." I grumbled.

"Nnh" Shinobu began to squirm around, 'Did I wake her up?!' You felt her thin arms wrap themselves around your neck.

"S-shinobu?" I whispered quietly, I knew I was blushing. She moved closer to me, nuzzling her head in the crook of my neck. I stared down at her, 'She's so cute...' Anymore of this and I was sure my heart would burst. I left it and closed my eyes, I needed rest.

"Good morning, Y/n!"  I woke up to a pair of gradient violet eyes staring into mine. "It's raining right now, but we need to carry on with our mission."

"Right." I said getting up and slipping into my boots.

"Well the demon has migrated so we can go home now, the master has sent Kanroji to deal with it."

"Alright" I responded following Shinobu out of the house, waving goodbye to the old lady and thanking her for shelter.
