Nobody's POV

You woke up in a bed, staring at the ceiling. "Where am I?"

"Inosuke! She's awake!"

You heard feet stomp over to your bed, it was Kano and Inosuke, they must've brought you back after the fight.

"L/n, Shinobu told me to give this to you after..." Kanao paused, hesitant to go on. "After she passed." Her eyes filled with tears as she handed you a folded piece of paper.

"Thank you, Kanao." You said, taking the paper and examining it.

"We'll give you a minute, Inosuke come on." With that you were alone. You unfolded the paper, revealing the message inside.

(Y/n's POV)

I felt my cheek, it was wet with tears, they fell onto the paper smudging the ink.

"I don't want to forget you..." I swung my legs over the edge of the bed, wincing as pain shot through my body. I ignored it, grabbed my haori and boots and quickly put them on, sneaking out into the rain, walking until I found the field where we shared our first kiss. I grabbed a small flower and placed it by a nearby stone, carving her name into the smooth grey surface with a sharp stick I found nearby. I placed it under our tree, completing it with her hairpin.

"I hope you're at peace now." I smiled up at the sky, memories of us flashing before my eyes. I sat at the edge of the river resting my feet in the cool water. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." I cried, rain hitting the water scaring the fish away. "Please, Shinobu forgive me! I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough! I should've done something! You're supposed to be able to protect the ones you love, right?!" My eyes widened.

A touch. A warm touch enveloping me in this miserable cold. I touched my shoulder, nothing.

"Don't be sorry, I was the one who broke my promise to you."

A sweet voice. A gentle voice. A voice I recognized all too well. Shinobu's voice.

"No... No... Don't leave me! Not yet! Please! Shinobu! Stay!" I wiped my tears, turning my head as a small blue butterfly flying into the distance, finally resting atop her grave.

"We'll meet again, I promise... This time I'll keep my promise."
