Forever and Always

Chapter 20

By the time we got home from the park, May was already home from work. Y/n went to May's room to get ready and I stayed back with May and Koda.

"May, I need your help." I stated, hurrily walking into the kitchen with a desperate look on my face.

"What's up, Pete?" She asked.

"I asked Y/n out and I kinda need you to watch Koda for me tonight." I gave her a pleading smile.

"Of course! Where are you guys going?"

"I was thinking about just going and seeign a movie with her."

She nodded with a warm smile. "Are you going to kiss her?"

"May!" I exclaimed, a blush rising to my cheeks.

She laughed and pushed me into my room to get ready while she helped arrange the plans for mine and Y/n's date.

I pulled on a black t-shirt and a light blue button up shirt with a pair of jeans and a pair of backed out Converse. I went into the bathroom and messed around with my hair, running my fingers through it and trying different styles with gel. It all looked terrible. I ended up just returning it to the way that it was before grabbing a bottle of cologne from the bathroom cabinent. I sprayed it in front of me and sniffed before showing a look of disgust and deciding against using it.

May knocked on the bathroom door and I opened it.

"It's almost seven." She informed.

I nodded and fixed my hair again before leaving the bathroom and meeting May in the living room.

"I was thinking, what if you guys went to a drive in?" She suggested.

"That sounds good. How far away is it?" I asked.

"About twenty minutes. The first showtime of the movie is at eight so you would have some time before it started. You should probably take my car though."

I nodded as Y/n walked out of May's room, a smile on her face as she approached us. She was wearing a white t-shirt with a pair of black ripped jeans and classic black Converse shoes. She had her hair loosely curled and she had on a light, nude color eyeshadow.

Wow. She looks amazing.

"You look gorgeous, Y/n." May complimented, winking at me as she left the room.

Y/n blushed, her smile growing wider as she walked up to me.

"Y-You look really pretty." I stuttered.

"You're not too bad yourself, Parker." She laughed.

I grabbed May's keys off the counter as Y/n told Koda goodbye. I held out my arm and she hooked her hand into the crook of my arm as we walked out of the apartment and out to the car. I opened the door for her and she got in. I made my way over to my side of the car, getting in and placing the keys in the ignition before driving off.

Just like May said, it took about twenty minutes to get to the drive in. When we got there, I paid before parking in a relatively good spot to watch the movie from. I opened the trunk and laid out a blanket and pillows before sitting down inside along with Y/n. I handed her a box of candy and placed a tub of popcorn between us as the movie started to play.

A few minutes in, I felt Y/n's hand snake into mine, her fingers intertwining with mine as she rested her head on my shoulder. I froze for a second before wrapping my fingers around hers and resting my head on top of hers, smiling to myself as we continued to watch the movie.

After the movie was over, I helped Y/n out of the back of the car and closed the trunk before getting back into the front seat.

"It's only a little past ten, May said to be back by midnight. Wanna go do something else?" I asked.

"Why don't we just walk around the city until we find something do do?"

I nodded and started the car, pulling out of the drive in place and back onto the road. I parked in some random parking lot of a building and we got out of the car. Y/n hooked her hand into mine as we walked down the moon-lit street, talking and laughing about random topics. We ended up stopping by a hot dog cart and each bought one before resuming our walk around the city.

"We should probably get back to the car. It's almost 11:30." I informed.

Y/n nodded and we turned around, heading back to where I parked May's car. We got in and I drove back to the apartment. Before I unlocked the door, I turned to face Y/n, her hand still in mine.

"I had a really nice time." She stated with a smile.

"I did too." I spoke, returning the smile.

Y/n stepped closer to me and gently pressed her lips on mine, her hand going up to the side of my face. I froze again before letting my eyes flutter closed and kissing her back, resting my hand on her shoulder. It was a few seconds before we pulled away from each other and went back inside. 

That's how I thought it was going to go. That's how I wanted it to go; a date just like the ones in movies. Instead, the exact opposite happened...
