Rylee's POV
As Daniel protected Nicholas and Phoebe, and David protected Mary Grace and Sara, Mason went over to cover me. I knew we were about to begin a fight, but for some reason I couldn't help but blush and smile when he looked back at me. His eyes were so... pretty even though they were brown. I raised my short sword, but I didn't expect to be much help- Mason was really good at fighting, based on the Miss Sunshine's ambush, while I was just praying I was half as good with a sword as I was with makeup.
One of the scar- faced men walked forward and spoke, "Well well well, look what we have here... why are you here? I suppose those dwarves sent you here to take the talismn, eh?"
"They did," David spoke up.
"Are you all really that stupid? Do you know what will happen if the dwarves get it back?"
"No, but I guess we'll find out soon enough," David let out a growel and attacked the man, while Daniel and Mason rushed to attack the others.
All I could do was stand there- this was the first time I had actually been allowed to fight, but I saw Nicholas fighting like a pro, and even Sara was trying to help. I looked at Mary Grace and it looked like she was just darting in and out of the crowd with blood on her dagger, and Phoebe was swinging her axe around until I saw it connect with one of the men's face...
This was fairly easy so far. Already three down, two to go, but something wasn't right. If these theives had stolen from the dwarves, then why was this so easy? There's deffinately more, but still this wasn't right- someone was trying to trick us. David took down one oft he two theives, but just as Nicholas was going to kill the last one, the theif surrendered.
"I-I can explain," the theif dropped his sword and held up his hands.
"Well then come on, theif," Mason stepped forward and changed back.
"We, We are the Watchers. We make sure everything stays in balance within Ofrion. Trust me, if the dwarves get that talismn, order will be destroyed."
"Then why fight, why steal it from the dwarves if it's there's. I'm just saying if it's there's how can it be a threat?"
"Because it wasn't before the witch came. We had to steal it, and we fought because we had to make sure you weren't some mortals trying to be heroes. We had to make sure ya'll were the chosen ones."
"Sure, just give us the talismn people," I don't even know why I said annything.
The man chuckled and said, "Not a chance. You might be a chosen one, but you're nothing right now."
Nicholas stepped in front of me and said, "She is not nothing, she's a better person than you are."
I blushed but didn't smile. I didn't know what to do because I thought of Brooks and how we needed these gems.
"Sure, we'll go alright. Come on people," Daniel shoved the man into the wall as he started walking out.
Mary Grace's POV
Well that was awkward. When Nicholas had stepped up for Rylee I had seen the usually look of jealous from Phoebe, but I also saw a look of anger from Mason. I don't know what happened there, but I am also confused about why we were going back to the Dwarven Kingdom without any talisman.
Brooks' POV
I followed Queen Courtney with Alyssa through the throne room and into another darkish room where she let out a creepy laugh and lit a torch with her hands. I gulped and saw Alyssa take a sharp breath, and Courtney laughed again.
I stood there trying to think of some way to escape, when suddenly Courtney snapped her fingers and I went flying into the wall. Just like in the movies back home. She did it again and again until she must've gotten too tired to do anything else because she chained me down on a wooden table.
Queen Courtney did the same to Alyssa, and walked out, locking a heavy door behind us. I just stared at the ceiling until I realized for the first time, that I was stuck. I was chained to a table guarded by a whole group of psychos, with only a fairy as company. Plus everyone else was somewhere else, but we were all stuck in this world. And it was my fault. If only I hadn't walked into that stupid cave that no one else had seen but us six.
I think the only thing that kept me going strong was Mary Grace. And Nicholas and maybe Rylee. I couldn't wait to see MG when I escaped though- if I escaped.
