Sara's POV
When we got back to King Breton empty-handed, he was furious. He started shouting when David pushed him into the wall and raised a knife to his throat.
"I knew something was off. You can never trust a dwarf. I should have known that talisman could only mean destruction. You dwarves are like dragons- greedy and selfish."
"You shouldn't threaten me in my own home, werewolf. Now take the gem and get out of my sight. You and your friends have already done enough here. I don't want to see you asking for help in the war that's coming- Now leave my kingdom. Now," Breton pushed David off and adjusted his shirt.
"Gladly, let's go everybody," David's been cold pretty much the whole time we've been here... Maybe he has some kind of history here.
About 30 minutes later, we were already on the move again. It seems like we never have anymore time to stop- we just go, "rest", go, never stopping to actually get fully regenerated. I'm probably the only one who think this, but personally I think the quest is set for failure. It's already weird enough we're here, but I just go along with everyone else so I don't worry one of them or get them mad at me.
Little Miss Sunshine was still just as weirdly peppy and excited as she was in the shop... that is one crazy lady, but it helped a little that she was so upbeat.
We were going to my personal favorite- the Vampire Mountain. I was practically in love with vampires and I don't even know why. They were so cool to me- and witches too. I was so obsessed. This was going to be the best one yet... hopefully they wouldn't drink our blood and stuff. I was more of a fan of the Edward kind of vampires- the ones that didn't attack random people and suck their blood for fun.
Nicholas' POV
I wasn't even close to as thrilled about going to the vampires as Sara was. I mean, Phoebe and her werewolves, Sara and her vampires, Rylee and her mermaids, Brooks and his Fairies, Mary Grace and her dwarves, but my favorite was already the elves.
The mountain looked so far away in the distance- all I could see right now was a small little ridge in the horizon. And when we finally got there we would still have to climb up to the top.
Landon's POV
Well, we managed to make it inside the gates, but that was actually easy. We just had to sneak in when the guards rotated and after the bird flew off for a while.
Now we just had to get inside the fortress, but that was nearly impossible unless we knew exactly where we were going, but there was always a person standing there anyway. Even during the rotations- always the same dark figure standing there in the same place a day.
Alyssa's POV
Well this sucked. I was tied up to a wooden board along with Brooks. It was bad enough she caught me, but really it angered me so much Brooks just didn't go when he was supposed to. Courtney wasn't going to kill me- I had to do all of he dirty work but that didn't mean she couldn't torture me. And she needed Brooks for something she wouldn't say why, but she needed him alive. She could- and would- torture us for this... and torture from that lady was brutal.
Brooks' POV
I was a about to finally fall asleep when Courtney walked in. All she did was just smile and just sit in the chair next to the boards. She didn't even talk- she just stared at me with that smile on her face. I could handle it the first couple minutes. but after a while, I began to feel really uncomfortable- it was like she was planning something.
Eventually, she said, "You shouldn't have done that..."
"I promise I won't try to escape again, Queen Courtney," I lied.
"Yea just let him go, Your Highness. He wouldn't of even left if I hadn't forced him out. Just don't do anything to him. It was all my plan," Alyssa pleaded.
"At least one of you is telling the truth," Courtney smirks before she raises her hands and sparks shoot out of her hands.
Instantly, I start to arch my back and get out of my skin as she electrocutes me. I can't sit still, I jut want to run away and never come back. All I want is for it to stop- but Courtney seems to be enjoying this.
"Stop! Courtney stop! You're going to kill him! He's a mere human- he can't take this much! You still need him for that thing you were talking about but never told me what it was!" Alyssa begged her to take a break.
"Shutup! You will address me by Your Highness, Your Majesty, or Queen Courtney... never 'Courtney'!"
"Sorry, Your Highness, but please stop- he's a weak human!" Alyssa persisted.
"Oh alright," Courtney looked as if all the fun was over.
I looked over at Alyssa and silently thanked her. Even though she called me a weak human she still saved my life.
Phoebe's POV
We finally stopped to take a break and sleep a little, but we were still nowhere near the vampire mountain. The mountain was still a bump in the horizon, and I could still the Dwarven Tunnels. We ate some more stuff Miss Sunshine had brought and fell asleep in a little circle.
The dreams came again tonight. Brooks was there too- like usual- but this time Queen Courtney was too.
"Do you have your answer, child?" Queen Courtney asked me.
"I-I don't know. I need more time. I can't just leave them- but I, I don't know what to do."
"It's simple. You can come join us and Queen Courtney will protect you in this war, or you can stay with those fools and Courtney will kill you soon. She's only offering this one time," Brooks said.
Since when did he get so hateful and serious?
"So what is it, child? I'm sure your friends will join us too, just give them time," Queen Courtney comforted.
I thought of all the times I had felt insecure about some of the others decisions. How Landon had just sprung this quest on us, and how we had almost been killed in that fire and the ambush. When David had killed that man at Miss Sunshine's even though he had told us everything. When David had threatened King Breton. Plus, the others probably would join us when they came to get Brooks. It's true I had never actually listened to anyone else besides those elves and werewolves- they could be the bad ones!
"Y-Yes. I'll join you."
"Good decision, child. Now come with me," Courtney held out her hand in my dream.
I slowly grabbed it, and began to feel like I was falling asleep... In my dream? I saw my body mist away- just like it did in the cave- and soon all I saw was darkness as I drifted away.
