Venti's POV

No.

No no no.

This can't be happening.

My eyes widened in shock, hands trembling. My name rang in my ears over and over again.

Out of hundreds and thousands of young people, why, why me?

I don't want a life like this.

I just want to live a normal and happy life.

I'm content with what I have.

"Barbatos Venti, please come up to the stage!"

I snapped out of my daze and looked up to see the girl in purple staring at me.

I slowly made my way through the crowd, mind still processing what had happened.

A few people threw dirty looks at me, some looked at me longingly, whereas some just didn't care and looked like they wanted to leave already.

Soon, I was on the stage, gulping nervously.

How many people were staring at me again?

"Alright! From now on, Barbatos Venti, this person here," the girl nodded at me, "will be Prince Xiao's fiancé!"

The crowd remained silent, they didn't know if they should cheer or scream at me.

The girl sighed.

"That is the end of this event! All of you can leave now!"

The crowd started to disperse. I was still standing on the same spot in shock.

But I don't like Prince Xiao?

I mean I had a little crush on him a few years ago but I don't now!

There are so many out there who would die for this opportunity.

Why me?

Why?

"Prince Venti?"

I jumped at my name, and shuddered at the 'prince' before it.

I turned around to see the purple girl that was the host from earlier.

"A-are you calling...me?" I asked.

She nodded.

"I'm Keqing, would you please follow me? I'll take you to see the Prince now."

I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out, so I just nodded silently.

She gestured me to follow her and I did.

She led me to a carriage. I gasped at it. It was pure white with gold details, shiny gold wheels with delicate and intricate designs, the door was made of glass, not a stain on it.

Well, I guess this isn't as bad as I thought.

I slowly stepped into the carriage, scared of scratching it accidentally. Keqing giggled slightly at my behaviour, but coughed it off as if nothing happened.

There were two white leather chairs in the carriage, I sat on one and Keqing sat on the other. The man driving the carriage turned around and looked at Keqing. She nodded and off we went to the palace.

We arrived sooner than I thought. I gawked at the enormous building before me.
