- leia wanted everything to be perfect

- because she loved you and you all just went through a war and she waited so long to actually propose

- so, as far as she was concerned, you deserved a perfect proposal along with a perfect wedding and a perfect life

- she knew that dismantling the rest of the empire's network wouldn't be easy, so she wasn't counting on the perfect life

- but the proposal?

- that was smaller, more within her control

- everything had to go according to plan

- ... if only she could put a plan together

- she wanted it to be romantic - something really sweet and special, like over a really nice and extravagant dinner with perfect music and candles as soft lighting

- but she didn't want it to be public; your relationship was very private and personal, regardless of her position as part of the rebellion and in helping to build the new republic

- a small dinner with just the two of you, maybe? or a dinner with just the other people you both loved?

- she couldn't decide

- part of her wanted to ask you what you'd want, but that would take away the surprise of when and where it would happen, seeing as you both already knew you wanted to get married when the war was over

- "hey, leia, we've got—" luke stopped short as he entered his sister's room. "you alright?"

- leia had been hanging off her bunk upside-down, hoping maybe that would help her think

- in the end, it had just given her a headache

- "never fall in love. proposals are the worst."

- luke shot a sympathetic frown her way

- "hey, if you need help arranging something for (y/n), i'm always here for you both. and i'm sure han, chewie, and r2 would love to help as well. threepio would probably nag us all, but the intent to help would still be there."

- leia laughed at that last statement as she straightened herself up

- but her laugh faded as she remembered how much she was struggling with trying to think of a proposal you would adore

- "i just worry that if it isn't perfect, she'll say no."

- he hummed in thought, crossing his arms as he leaned back against the door to her room

- "if (y/n) was proposing, what would you think would be perfect?"

- she tried to envision the ideal proposal

- a part of her wished it could happen on alderaan - the home planet you both shared - but that was not meant to be

- she shrugged after a moment

- "as long as i know she loves me enough to want to be with me for the rest of our lives, that's perfect enough."

- he grinned at her knowingly

- "then i think that's all she'd need from you."

- after a momentary pout of consideration, leia nodded

- "that's encouraging, i guess. still, deciding on something isn't so easy."

- "i know you'll think of something. now, though, it's dinner time, and we've got some top-quality crops cooked into dinner as thanks from the ukians for liberating them."
