[A/N: here is part two of my take on Survive 5x09 (not what I think will happen, just my imagination- enjoy ☺️☺️]

Hondo had picked up some lunch for himself and Nichelle to drop in and surprise her at the youth centre.

They just had their meeting with the agency earlier that morning to process the paperwork to gain custody for the baby they had agreed on raising.

He juggled the paper bags as he rummaged for his keys in his pocket when his phone began to ring. He placed the bags on the roof of his vehicle.

His glance at the screen notified him it was Hicks calling, who only ever called on Hondo's off day, if it was extremely important.

Hondo immediately put the phone to his ear.

"Commander?", Hondo answered.

"Hondo, we've got a problem. It's Deacon and Alonso. I need the team here at HQ ASAP, will explain when you arrive".

Hondo knew his team mates were on a private security detail today, making their way to Vegas as he and Hicks spoke.

"Are they okay?", he asked, his mind racing as to what could have happened.

"For now, but we need to hurry or I'm going to have to answer that in a way none of us will want to hear", Hicks stated and ended the call.

Fifteen minutes later, Street climbed off his bike in the HQ motor pool.

He'd been called in by Hicks, without an explanation.

Street hadn't had much planned for the remainder of his day. A few odd jobs here and there. He had actually texted Chris earlier and was still waiting to hear back when Hicks had called.

Checking his phone again as he walked inside, he realised Chris still hadn't responded. Chris and Deac should be almost to Vegas by now.

"Street, have you heard anything?", Tan broke his thoughts as he fell into step beside him, his own anxiousness about the callout coming through.

Street shook his head and slipped his phone back into his pocket. They dropped their bags in the locker room and made their way in the comms room where Hondo, who was already TAC'd up as well as Commander Hicks were huddled around the computer.

They both lifted their heads to see them enter, their faces concentrated and concerned.

Street sent a quick glance toward Tan's mirrored uncertain expression and then back to Hondo, "what's going on, boss?", he asked with a lifted brow.

"Thanks for coming in so suddenly, Luca is out of state for the day and wouldn't make it back in time so it's just us. All on duty squads are held up in downtown LA, and to be honest I wouldn't want anyone but us on this call", Hondo answered, still dancing around the reason they were all here.

Street immediately felt uneasy.

Hondo jumped straight back in before Street and Tan could question them again, "there's been a situation with Deac and Chris, they've been ambushed on their security detail and are still under fire. We need to find them and intervene", he hurried out.

Street's stomach dropped at Hondo's words. Chris and Deac were in danger and they were hundreds of miles away.

"Deacon was able to make contact with us as they were trying to find cover. He told us their vehicle was shot up and ended up overturning into a ditch where they continued to take heavy fire".
