A/N: I'm really excited to see how 5x09 plays out so much so that I wrote my own version just using the tiny bit of information we've been given plus the BTS content as a base line (Deac and Chris are on a security detail, their car flips and they're taking fire, they find a presumably abandoned western set and they get separated- eventual rescue by SWAT in the chopper) - but everything else I made up. (All characters and storyline belong to CBS SWAT) IM SO EXCITED TO SEE WHAT SWAT DOES WITH THIS EP WHEN IT AIRS!!!

Little background on my end for this one shot- Chris and Street are secretly seeing each other but not offical, no one on the team knows yet!

Thanks and enjoy! This is just part one (will be a two part-er as it turned out to be way longer than I thought I was gonna make it 😂😂 )

The trek from L.A to Vegas had been tedious so far. The client Deac had asked Chris to help accompany for a security detail was sat in the backseat of the Range Rover.

He was testifying against a gang member from his community and had been seeking refuge in L.A with relations until his court appearance, which was scheduled for the next morning.

There had been several threats made against the clients life and Deac's company had been assigned to provide a personal detail to have him arrive safely.

It was an off day for 20-Squad and Deac knew Chris had been trying to put some money aside to buy her own place, so he offered her the highly paid gig. From the price offered, they realised this man's testimony was an incredibly important one.

Only 50 or so miles until they reached the city.

After a quick head check of the client in the back seat and the cars that occupied the road, behind and ahead of their own vehicle, Chris lowered her head back down to her phone in her lap.

Deac peeked over at Chris texting on her phone and cleared his throat.

"How's it going with Street?"

Chris' fingers paused typing and flickered up to stare out the windscreen, frozen.

"What do you mean?" She asked, finding the confidence to sneak a glance toward Deac.

"Have you figured it out yet?" He questioned with a semi serious tone.

Chris' heart started to race. How did he find out? He was being vague in his answer..maybe he didn't know the whole truth.

Chris was still at a loss for words so Deac turned his head to speak again, seeing the look on Chris's face.

"What? I notice things" he remarked.

Chris drew a heavy sigh and asked, "And what exactly have you noticed?".

Deac was pondering the question and began to shrug when the first bullet rang and hit the front tyre.

The next one hit the front of Deac's window as they swerved, shattering it into a millions pieces in Deac's lap and the console.

Chris grabbed the dash with one hand to brace herself, the other flew to her hip, pulling out her gun.

She turned her body to try and see who was shooting at them and to make sure the client was okay.

His window was hit next, he ducked down at the impact and shatter.

At this point Chris could see the car siding up to them, a dark van with the windows tinted to an illegal degree. The only visual she had was the barrel of the gun stuck out the small gap at the top of the window.
