Chapter 50: Determination

After 30 minutes of struggling, Noel finally knocked 2 lives off the King at the expense of fracturing her left arm and a few broken ribs.

However the King still maintained his composure."I must say, I underestimated the both of you. But your strength has been depleted and I still haven't sweat a bead, Unless- "

An arrow shot down from one of the caves on the walls.

"Flare?" Noel looked at the cave where the arrow came from.

The King continued "Unless, Flare were to come save you, but I doubt that from happening since the cavern system is too complex to be navigat-."

Something fell out onto the ground from one of the caves and turns out it was Flare.

"Well fuck me, why am i such a jinx." The King said that in a low growling tone.

"Flare!"

"Noel!" Flare took a look at her new surroundings and found Noel in a battered state.

"What happened to you?"

"How did you.. Kheuk...."Noel coughed out blood while Flare is holding her,

"I used my arrows to scout for potential routes to reach the other side through the caves."

"You need to rest, I'll take care of him" Flare's face was red with anger written on it.

"No, I could do this all day" Noel rejected her proposal.

Facing a thick headed Noel, she decided to honor her decision.

Together they finally face the King in unison.

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH" They yelled as they ran towards the King.

We were backed to the wall the King erected and the wave of undeads were too close for comfort.

Suddenly Botan opened her dimensional pocket and a rocket powered trolley strapped with explosives rolled out of the portal. The rocket ignites and ran over the hoard of zombies until it reaches the middle of the crowd and explodes.

"HEY! CALLI IS IN THERE!!!" I yelled towards Botan angrily

"OH DEAR, THAT'S SO SWEET BUT THEY'LL BE FINE...HAHAHA"Botan responded

Botan threw out a barrage of the rocket powered trolleys into the undead hoards to slowly clear them out but the hoard only gets bigger as time goes on.

In the end we are pushed to our brink.

"It was nice to meet you kid..." Botan said it with a smile

"The pleasure was mine." I tried to sound as cool as possible but I never thought this would be how I die.

"Nobody's dying today! DISPELLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!"Luna finally completed her spell

The undeads stopped moving briefly then they resumed their movement

"EHHHHHH!!!! WHY! WHY WON'T THEY STOP!!! I DON'T WANT TO DIE!!!!!!!" Luna cried out tears while rolling on the ground

'I'm sorry Calli, Thanks..for everything' I closed my eyes, and at that moment. I heard a loud sound of a staff hitting the ground.

The marching sound of the everlasting undeads stopped and the wall behind us crumbled.

The sound of a staff hitting the ground sounded the second time and the undeads started to turn back and move back into the caves.

It was Calli in sight, she was the one controlling the undeads.

'Does that mean... WE'VE WON!!!?' I thought

I look behind the crumbled wall and see the King kneeling in place with Flare's uchine lodged in his left eye.

The King shuddered as if waking up from a bad dream he pulled the weapon out of his eye socket and stood up.

He tidied his robes and kneeled in front of Calli, "Forgive me for I have failed..." his body was trembling out of fear in the face of death.

"You have done well, child of Shanz. For your service I shall grant you... Death..." Calli held her scythe and with a heavy swing of her scythe, she cut through the King's robes diagonally from his right shoulder to his left pelvis.

"Enlighten me Reaper, is there an afterlife for the likes of us?" the King questioned Calli in a shaky tone.

"Even I am unbeknownst to that, but..."

"Even if we don't know that doesn't mean it doesn't exist, bone you think that way?"

The king chuckled from the pun." Indeed, I might have been rattled for nothing haven't I."

Slowly, the King looked at the direction of the Noel flare couple.The light in the king's eyes went out like a fire being blown out and his body reduced into dust on the floor.

Flare begins to tear out uncontrollably from the sight.while Noel comforts her. Everything seems to have been resolved one way or another that was until...

A yawning sound breaks the atmosphere.

The child with brilliant pink hair has woken up from her slumber.

"Where am I nora~?"

Calli let the child down from her shoulder."Can you stand?"

The toddler's small feet touched the ground and stood on her own.

"WHEN DID SHE GET THAT BIG?" Luna yelled

The girl had a pink and light green iris and she looks at us with curious eyes.

"Can you tell us your name, little girl?" Calli asked.

"It's Luna nanora~" said the little girl.

"HUH!!!!!!???" Everyone was bewildered by that statement.
