It was the night before the day of Donotyr's knighting. Donotyr had just finished eating dinner with Vinith. He was worried about the knighting ceremony the next day, but at the same time, excited about joining the ranks of other rangers like his friends Deng, Vinith, and Zena.
"What if I fail as a ranger... or if something goes wrong..."Donotyr mentioned in his thoughts.
Donotyr buried his face in his hands as he felt a hand touching him.
"No, no, you can do it," Vinith reassured him. "Calm down Donotyr, everything will be alright. Lord Fugmius, Deng, Zena, and I will be here for you. You can do it as a ranger."
"All of us begin as cadets when we enter this organization. If we have excelled enough as cadets, then we will be promoted as official members of this group. As rangers, we strive to protect Yirrim from the threat known as the Ignominies," Vinith continued.
"Ignominies? I guess that group sounded that familiar to me."
Donotyr had the same burn scar as the man reportedly found by patrolling rangers found in a forest a year prior. Perhaps HE was that man. However, Donotyr was silent about his origins, where he came from, and what his true identity is. All of that didn't matter as he feared facing the Ignominies.
"What's wrong, Donotyr? Is there something wrong?" Vinith asked.
"Nothing... It's just that... Bad memories."
"It's okay, you can get through this, Donotyr."
Suddenly, Donotyr and Vinith's conversation were interrupted by Deng and Zena came running.
"Y-you would not believe this!" Deng exclaimed.
"Wait, wha...what happened?" Donotyr questioned his friend.
"A-a-an armed man is roaming around the building," Deng replied.
"H-h-his menacing red eyes are gazing at us with fear. His masked face makes him more intimidating," Zena added. "But we do not know who sent him here or how he got here."
"Come, let's split our ways before he can get to us. We do not know what he will do next. Maybe he would harm us," Vinith said to her friends as they were beginning to walk away from the dining area.
