A few hours later, Y/N was getting ready for bed when he received a text:

What's going on, lover boy?

It was from Minori Kushieda; she must have gotten home from practice or something.

Just getting ready for bed, you?

He didn't know why, but he felt the need to be extra cautious. He got on his bed as her response came in.

Good. I just got home a few minutes ago, that's when I remembered that you gave me your number in exchange for Taiga's. I hope our conversation earlier was helpful to you and your 'friend'.

Thinking about this, he wondered if Kushieda had any information on Kitamura. However, he decided not to press her too much. Instead he sent the following two words:

Very funny.

He sent that, thinking about what else to add when a simple reply greeted him.

You know what, this doesn't have to be about Aisaka, right?

Hey, Kushieda, do you have any idea what's going to happen for gym tomorrow?

Damn it, that's not what I wanted to ask!

Oh, because of the rain? We're most likely doing dodgeball, basketball, or volleyball if the net isn't destroyed by the storm.

"Man, I haven't played dodgeball since I was in middle school."

That would be a good conversation starter.

After sending it, he read her reply two minutes later.

Depending on which teacher is supervising us, we either do boys versus girls, or have two separate games. Some teachers let us go all out as long as we don't break anything, but others aren't that fun loving. ☹

This got a chuckle from him.

If we could pick our own teams, how do you feel about helping me organize one that has you, me, Kitamura, and Aisaka; we'd be close to unstoppable. Add Ryuji into the mix, we'd have the intimidation factor down.

He hesitated before sending that one, but got a positive response.

I like it! If it's volleyball, can we do that as well?

I don't see why not.

The two talked for a while before she said that she had to get going. Y/N responded with a simple "K" and moved on.

That's when Satan called him.

"Hello?"

"Huh, guess this is your actual phone number."

"Yeah, what's wrong?"

"Nothing, I just decided to see what's going on."

"Well, I just spoke to Minori about gym tomorrow. If it's dodgeball or volleyball, we're going to try to get the four of us on the same team."

"Huh. Clever."

"With the game going on, you shouldn't have a problem talking with Kitamura. If all goes well, you might even be able to talk after gym about stuff."

"I ... hope so."

"It shouldn't be too bad. It's just gym class after all."

"Yeah... I hope you're right."
