Chapter 8

The weekend went by the same way weekends always go, too quickly. Then came Monday; everything proceeded normally until first period.

"Class, I'd like to introduce you to our newest student, Miss Ami Kawashima!"

"No way!" Maya exclaimed, "It's actually her."

The class erupted into applause as Taiga and Y/N slowly let their heads fall on their desks.

I should've put two and two together.

Suddenly, he felt like he was being watched; sitting up, he saw Kihara mouth something directed at him:

"Do you care now?"

He responded by rolling his eyes.

Of course, the other boys in the class were extremely excited and considered themselves blessed, with the exception of Kitamura.

Maybe we can just ignore her.

"Thank God I'm in 2-C!"

"An angel has graced us with her presence."

"I could get used to this."

"You guys are pathetic." Taiga sighed.

"Ten bucks says she already has a boyfriend." Y/N teased.

"Shut up, Y/N" Haruta spat.

"Geeze, what's wrong with you all? A cute girl shows up and you guys start freaking out." Minori asked.

After the noise died down, class began, but no one was paying attention to the material. Boys were gawking at Kawashima as the girls quickly became envious.

The only ones who should really be concerned or jealous are Taiga and Kihara. Yeah, Kitamura knows what she really is like, but there is still a chance that he may be attracted to her. I mean, hell, she's pretty; I'll give her that, but isn't being attractive kind of a prerequisite for being a model? Whatever; it doesn't matter.

"Yo, Aisaka." He whispered during class.

"Guess we're stuck with the brat. I don't know about you, but I'm just going to ignore her and act like nothing happened the other day."

"Good idea; I'm in, I guess."

Kihara watched as Taiga and Y/N stole glances at each other and whispered privately. His lack of interest in the new girl was enough for Maya to wonder if he had known something. Whatever the case, it was obvious that Taiga Aisaka had some kind of resentment towards the model.

At lunch, as everyone put in the extra effort to talk to the new girl, Y/N made an escape to the vending machine to buy a drink and get some much needed air.

To his surprise, a few other students had done the same. Kushieda, Takasu, Aisaka, and Kitamura had been waiting for him.

"Found the jackass; late as usual." Taiga groaned.

"Nobody invited me." He said, defensively.

"This all kind of happened at once. Kitamura had been setting this up with Kushieda all day." Ryuji explained.

"I'm guessing this is about your lady friend?" He said, annoyed.

"Yeah, I already told these guys about what happened between her and Aisaka the other day. It's not like Ami will never have fans, but I just want her to be able to be herself around others; they should be able to decide to hang out with her for her own personality, not some silly act she pulls."

"I understand, but it's not like she's going to want to change. And besides, these two don't exactly get along." Ryuji motioned to Taiga.

"Oh, that's fine Takasu! We just need to make her feel welcome at OHS, and, before you know it, she'll be glad to be herself." Minori's optimism made Takasu smile, while simultaneously causing Y/N and Taiga to raise their eyebrows.
