The Daughter, Pt 2

The Avengers, despite being told a million times, still think Penny is Tony's daughter. 

Well kind of, it's more of a big joke at this point, especially with Penny now coming to stay the summer in the tower. Aunt May got offered a traveling nurse position in Europe and Penny, knowing it is her dream job, encourages her to go. Pepper being the one who ended up convincing Penny to stay with them for the summer instead of staying alone in their apartment. 

Again 'convinced' is kind of down playing it. Pepper basically gave Penny the longest presentation about why she should stay at the tower and then proceeded to show Penny how she had already set up a room for Penny. 

Penny would never have the heart to say no to Pepper, and no one argued with Pepper Potts- Stark.

Penny had been at the tower for 2 weeks, and everyday there was a joke about her being Mr. Starks real daughter. Penny always laughed, confirming once again she wasn't his child. But couldn't help hoping in her heart that it was real.   

She loved May, and May was basically a mom to her. Just like Ben was a father to her, but Mr. Stark made her feel just like Ben did. He felt like her dad.

Penny would never admit this, but everytime she heard a daughter joke she always wished she was his real daughter. Being at the tower made Penny feel like she was part of a family. May was her only family left now, and she loved May. But Penny was lonely, May had to work a lot to support them and Penny knew it wasn't May's fault but she still missed family nights. 

The tower was always full of people, and because it was summer Penny could spend a lot of time in the lab with Mr. Stark working on a various projects. Currently they were working on updates to the Spider Girl suit. 

Karen was getting a major update, so she could directly communicate with Friday. 

"Alright Pen, run configuration #024" Tony starts, messing with something on his stark pad. 

"Running configuration #024...... andddd..... done!" 

"Merging successful, now processing" Friday announces, and Penny cheers. 

"We did it!, now we just need to wait for Friday and Karen to finish merging their communication systems." Penny exclaims, spinning around on her stool. 

Tony smiles from his seat, "Good job kiddo, that one was all you. Should have known you would have been right." Penny beams at the praise, a beep from her phone interrupting her train of thought. 

A text from ned came through 'Penny! There's a sale at the lego store!!! With our pooled money we can afford to get the new Star Wars AT-AT model!! Meet me at the mall!'

Penny smiles, "Ned's asking me to meet him at the lego store, apparently theres a sale so we can get the new set we wanted!" 

Tony smiles, waving off the girl "Go, the merging should be done when you get back. You can bring Ted back here for dinner." 

"Mr. Stark, you know it's Ned not Ted!"

Tony smiles to himself, "yeah yeah, Ned, ted, whatever" 

Penny grabs her suit, leaving her AI chip plugged into the computer. "Why are you taking the suit?" Tony questions. 

"It will take me too long to take the train to get to the mall, Neds already there. I'm gonna swing." 

"Ok, just be careful, you won't have Karen to contact anyone." Tony frowns, not liking being without a form of contacting Penny when she wears the suit. 

Penny laughs, "I'll be fine, I'm just swinging to the mall. You wonder why everyone thinks you are my dad when you worry like that." Yanking open a window, Penny lets out with a laugh swinging off towards the mall.

A few hours later the Avengers are all relaxing on the main common floor, Tony replying to emails from Pepper on the couch. Nat, Clint, Bucky and Sam sit on another couch playing some video game. Steve is teaching Vision how to cook spaghetti in the kitchen, and the rest are scattered across the tower. 

Tony checks the time again, "6:54pm" 

It's been hours since Penny left to meet up with Ned, Tony hasn't heard anything from the girl. He assumes she would have returned by 5, 5:30 at the latest but she still hasn't shown up. 

Suddenly an alarm goes off, "Friday what's going on?" Tony questions, standing from his seat. 

"It appears there is a young man at the private entrance, he had the code to your garage 8 door. He appears to be holding something." A projection of garage 8 appears on the TV, there is a dark tan kid with dark hair, holding a blob of red and blue. 

"Oh My God" 

Tony runs to the elevator, leaving everyone else in confusion on the main floor, rushing down to the garage as fast as he could. Slamming open the door, he sees the boy, who slowly sets spider girl to the ground. 

"What happened?" Tony demands, dropping to the floor to asses Spider Girl's vitals. 

"We were walking back here from the mall when we saw Fisk was having a shoot out with the cops. Penny rushed off before I could stop her. She stopped Fisk and he's in police custody but by the time I found her in an alley she was already half unconscious. Karen wasn't responding, so I carried her here." Ned explains, hovering over the pair. "Please help her, she never stays passed out this long" 

Tony plugs Karen back into the suit, "Karen status. Now!'

"Full concussion, 2 broken bones, 5 sprains, multiple cuts and bruises. Healing factor is already working. Miss just needs rest and food when she awakes." 

As if on cue Penny groans, Ned falls to her side again. 

"Penny, Penny It's okay, we made it to the tower. Fisk is done." 

Penny sighs in relief and relax's back into Mr. Starks hold, flashing him a pained smile. "Mr. Stark, this is Ned."

"I kind of guessed that kid, what did I say about finding trouble."

"I didn't mean to find trouble." 

Tony chuckles, "I know you didn't kiddo" 

At the point the other Avengers have made it into the garage, fully ready for battle only to find a laughing Tony, and 2 teenagers. 

Ned and Tony pull Penny up between the two of them, "Come on let's get you to the infirmary. ted right? Come on, I told Pen you could stay for dinner." 

The group walks up, or in Penny's case stumbles up to the Avengers blocking the Elevator. 

"Tony" Nat states calmly, "What is Penny wearing?" 

Tony shrugs, "her suit, now if you would excuse me, my kid has a concussion that needs attending to." Before moving past the group and entering the elevator. Ned nudging Penny out of her frozen state but none more confused than the other Avengers. The elevator closes and the trio disappears. 

" I knew it!" Sam exclaims, but Bucky slaps his back "He called Penny his kid, that doesn't mean they are actually related. He just treats her like his kid, thats something we already knew." 

Soon they are all arguing about wether of not they are actually related when a shriek whistle stops them cold. 

Nat draws all their attention to her, "Are none of us going to address the fact that Penny Parker was just wearing the Spider Girl suit and Tony called it her suit." 

"I told you she was his daughter!" The arguing continues, Nat rolls her eyes, going upstairs to check on her little spiders condition.
