A Very Merry Christmas pt2

Tony called May to let her know that Penny would be staying with them while she worked over Christmas. May was happy that Penny wouldn't be alone, and even told Penny she saw her present left on the counter when she stopped at the apartment to get more scrubs. 

"I loved it Penny, I will give you your present when I see you the 27th okay?" "Okay May, I larb you" Penny replies, "I Larb you too Penny, I'll see you in a few days." 

Penny hands Tony back his phone when the elevator rings, Pepper emerges typing furiously on her phone. "Tony I was calling you- Oh Hi Penny" Pepper stops whatever she was going to say to hug the young girl. "How was your day Penny dear?" Pepper starts, leading Penny back to sit on the couch. 

Tony throws his arms up, rolling his eyes "What am I chopped liver to my own wife" Pepper waves off his whining focusing on her favorite teenager. "It was okay, May has to work the next 4 days straight, so Mr. Stark offered for me to spend Christmas with you all here. I-I mean if thats okay with you Ms. Potts" Penny mutters, fidgeting with her hands. 

Pepper smiles sweetly at the girl, pulling her into another hug "Of course I want to spend Christmas with you Penny, besides who else will bake Christmas cookies, and NOT burn them." Pepper throws over her shoulder, a exaggerated gasp can be heard from Tony "I don't know what you are talking about" 

The group spend the rest of the day making sure Penny has enough clothes in her room, and the girls bake Christmas cookies. Sugar cookies. Chocolate chip cookies. Snicker-doodles. All of Penny's favorites, a few hours later and the kitchen is lightly covered in flour, while Penny is more covered in flour. Pepper somehow looks fairly clean still, despite the large amount of baking the girls just finished. 

Taking the last batch of cookies out of the oven, Pepper places them on a wire rack to cool. She hands Penny a still warm cookie and they both enjoy their hard work. 

"It's getting later Penny, why don't you go get cleaned up and head to bed. I'll finish up in here, besides I think the others have plans with you tomorrow you should get some rest." Pepper offers, and Penny, exhausted from todays emotional events, agrees easily. Giving Pepper a quick hug, Penny slips off to her bedroom to get a shower and remove all the flour from her hair. 

By the time Penny slips under the covers she is so tired she drifts into sleep almost immediately.

12/24 Christmas Eve 

The next morning Penny is awoken by Fridays voice, "Penny, Mr. Rogers and Barnes would like for me to inform you that they are leaving for their run soon if you would like to join." 

Penny grunts some form of response, dragging herself out of bed into some leggings and sweatshirt, pulling her hair into a ponytail as she walks into the main room. There at the kitchen counter is Bucky and Steve drinking their coffee and eating a muffin, Bucky tosses Penny a muffin when she hops up to sit on the counter near him. 

"Glad you are joining us for Christmas Penny" Steve comments first "And for joining us for our run" A grunt can be heard from Bucky, who furiously sips more of his coffee, "Don't worry Penny I was also dragged out of my bed way to early on Christmas eve for this." Bucky adds, tossing a glare at Steve.

Steve laughs, "Oh please, all I did was ask." Bucky grunts, "Christmas guilt tripped me, more like it." 

Penny laughs as the old friends continue to bicker, once she is finished with her muffin and the men their coffee, the trio make their way outside the tower. The cool wind brushes past Penny's face turning her cheeks pink.
