"What is it?

"It's a boy..."

"Let's call him, Jim."

"Four years ago in that Iowa bar, I thought you were just some smart-mouthed idiot... Nothing changed that, Loverboy,"

"It took me one year, not four."

"Your father was captain of a starship for 12 minutes; he saved 800 lives."

"Not yet, Loverboy."

"I promised you a kiss if we won."

"I'm not under your orders, Captain. Right now, I am Lone, not Cheif PV."

"I dare you to do better..."

Kirk gasped as his eyes opened to bright lights; he squinted as he looked around him; he was in a hospital bed...

"Oh, don't be so melodramatic." Bones sighed as he scanned Kirk with a small device, "you were barely dead. It was the transfusion that really took its toll. You were out cold for two weeks."

"Transfusion?"

"Your cells were heavily irradiated."

"Khan?"

Bones shook his head, "It turns out your girlfriend was right about being stronger... Once she got back, I synthesized a serum from her superblood." Bones smirked, "tell me, are you feeling, uh, stealthy? Rules don't apply to you? Dramatic? Maybe even developed a hero complex?"

"No more than usual," Kirk offered a small thane, "how'd you catch him?"

"I didn't... Your girlfriend took care of him, then froze him up like a popsicle," Bones moved to the right side of the bed, revealing Y/N leaning against the door frame; she was a little bruised up and bandage over her nose, her wounds taking longer to heal since an enhanced being did this.

"You know I heard all that?" She raised a brow at Bones, "and if he did get any of my amazing qualities, he should be thankful."

"You saved my life," Kirk smiled at her as she smiled and walked into the room slowly.

"Uhura and I had something to do with it, too, you know," Bones sassed.

"You saved all our lives," she smiled down at him, sitting on the edge of the bed.

"How'd you take him?"

"I severed the nerve," she sighed.

Kirk looked at her wide-eyed, "you broke your own nose?"

"Yea," she shrugged, "I did what I had to do."

Kirk smiled up at her, taking her hand, "thank you, Y/N."

"Your welcome, James."

"I'm really happy you have superblood because I can still do this now," he raised his hand to her face as she leaned in and kissed him softly.

Y/N grinned into the kiss, "do that again, and I'll kill you myself."

"I promise," he laughed, "you can't pull anything like that either."

"I promise," she smiled and kissed him again.

One year later, Y/N sat beside the admirals on the stage in her suit and her hair down. She sat beside one of her dad's lifelong friends, who she knew well.

Kirk stood in the front of the stage at the podium and spoke to all the Starfleet officers. "There will always be those who mean to do us harm... To stop them. We risk awakening the same evil within ourselves." Kirk looked up at the audience, "our first instinct is to seek revenge when those we love are taken away from us. But this is not who we are." He looked over at Y/N as she nodded at him; he then looked back to the crowd. "We are here today to rechristen the U.S.S Enterprise and to honour those who lost their lives nearly one year ago... When Christopher Pike gave me his ship, he had me recite the Captain's Oath, words I didn't appreciate at the time. Now I see them as a call for us to remember who we once were and new we must be again. And those words... Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Her five-year mission; to explore stange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before."

After the ceremony, the Enterprise crew couldn't wait to be back aboard their ship.

The door opened for Kirk as he smiled when Chekov said, "Captain on the bridge."

Kirk walked towards the captain's chair, "It's hard to get out of it once you've had a taste, isn't that right, Mr. Sulu?"

"Captain does have a nice ring to it," Sulu nodded, "chairs all yours, sir."

Kirk smiled and tapped the button of the comlink on his chair, "Mr. Scott, how's our core?"

"Purring like a kitten, Captain. She's ready for a long journey."

"Excellent," Kirk nodded, closing the link and walked to the chief of medical, "come on, Bones! It's gonna be fun."

"Five years in space. God help me," Bones sighed.

Kirk laughed and went back to stand in front of his chair, "Spock, where should we go?"

"As a mission of this duration has never been attempted, I defer to your good judgement, Captain," Spock nodded.

Kirk smiled and looked over at the turbolift to reveal a beautiful alien. "What are you doing here?"

"Well, the admirals now know everything I had on Marcus, Khan and all my missions, so I am not needed on Earth at the moment." Y/N nodded, slowly walking towards her captain. "I will have missions out in space, but they thought I would be needed here, since you'll be going where no one has gone before."

Kirk grinned and pulled her close, "I agree with them."

"James," she raised a brow, "not the time."

"I'm the Captain, and I technically did die."

"I technically died once too, but I'm not milking that to get all the love and kisses I can get," she sassed.

"You what?"

"Long story," she shrugged.

"Well," he smiled down at her, "you got the rest of our lives to tell me," he winked and kissed her softly, then sat in his chair.

Y/N smirked and stood beside the chair, in her spot, "I have to agree, Loverboy."

"Good, princess," he smiled and looked in front of him. "Mr. Sulu, take us out.

"Aye, Captain," Sulu nodded, taking them out.

This was the beginning of some crazy events, feelings, saying and truths that came out.

Kirk and Y/N just never knew what was about to hit them...
