On a school night in California, me, my friends, Johnny, Tommy, Dutch, and Jimmy were in our way to the beach. I know it's weird to go to the beach at like 7pm while it's dark. We usually do it all the time. We just hang out there and talk or whatever.

On our way, we hear noises in the ally. We see a girl who looks about our age. Sophomore year. I've never seen her before so she must've been new. I felt something when I saw her. Not only fear for her because she was getting jumped by two shady men. One holding a knife. I felt like there was some connection between us. She had tied up brown, thick, wavy hair. She had dark brown eyes that twinkled in the moonlight. She didn't look scared. She looked like she wanted to fight with rage in her eyes. We decided to step in and help. Well, I mostly yelled at the guys that we should help her.

We got off our bikes and walked over to her.

"Leave her alone." My friend Johnny said. She looked right at us. She looked at all of us. She looked at me the most. The man who was restraining her let go. I motioned her to come near me. She walked over to me and I protected her while she stayed to my side. Johnny and the men kept arguing. The other man gave in and told him they should leave. They probably would've gotten in trouble for hurting a bunch of kids that definitely shouldn't have been out that late.

We asked her a bunch of questions.

"Are you alright?" I asked her, softly while gently placing my hand on her shoulder.

"Yeah I'm fine." She responded and sighed.

"What we're you doing here in the middle of the night?" Tommy asked, almost angrily but still slightly in a caring way.

She explained that she just moved here in California. The power went out in her neighborhood, so her mother told her and her 19 year old brother to take a walk to explore the neighborhood. Just then, they walk into an ally and get jumped by two men. Her brother ran off and that's when we stepped in.

"Do you live around here, in the Hills?" Johnny asks her. She nodded her head and pointed to her house. I smiled knowing that she lives right next door to my house.

Just then, I feel Johnny nudging me with his elbow while smirking. Johnny explained that we lived kind of around her house. Jokingly, we'll be her bodyguards is the way Johnny said it. He's a player and always trying to impress the ladies. Especially the hot and or cute ones, like the girl. She was perfect. She wasn't like any other. I was happy to know she lived next door to me. It also meant we would most likely meet again. The whole time I was kinda just looking at her the whole time like a blushy idiot. I hoped she didn't notice and think I was weird.

We all got on our bikes. The other guys drove off. I put on my helmet and gripped the handles but loosened my grip when I came to a decision. I couldn't let her walk home all by herself, it would also give me the opportunity to learn more about her.

"Do you want a ride home?" I asked her. She smiled with a very grateful look on her face.

"Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it." The girl approached me as I motioned to the back. She got on, but was a little shy when holding onto me.

Once we drove to her house I dropped her off. I still didn't know her name yet. I bite my lip and get the courage to start with my name first.

"My name is Bobby. Bobby Brown." She turned around.

"My name is Lagi Te Tai." She has such a beautiful, unique name. I can't help but smile.

"Bye. I'll maybe see you tomorrow." She said.

"Alright. Bye." I walked to my house.

I open the door and my 10 year old sister Delilah was looking out the window.

"What are you doing?" I asked her. She looked back at me with a weird smile on her face.

"I saw that girl you were with. Is she your girlfriend?" I try to make a believable face as if she was crazy but she can spot a lie. I'm pretty sure she could see me blushing as soon as she started talking about her. My 12 year old brother then showed up.

"Whoever that girl you were hanging with was hot." He said. I just rolled my eyes and tried to get passed my stupid siblings but then Delilah kept talking to me and all I wanted was just to go to sleep.

"If she's not your girlfriend then is she your crush?" Delilah says in a teasing voice while she sneered that little kid sneer up at me.

"No. Shouldn't you be in bed?" I say to her.

"No, mom said we could stay up late." She responded. I roll my eyes and walk out of the room.

I got ready for bed and as I was almost about to go to bed, I saw Lagi out my window next door. I went to bed but I couldn't stop thinking about her. I hoped she went to the same school as me and my friends.
