During May 28 1982, me and my friends were going to the beach to hang out. Then we heard two men ganging up on a girl who looks like our age. We go over and protect her. She told us that she was new to the Hills and she lived around our houses. We waved goodbye to her but my friend Bobby stayed. I've never seen him like this. He usually doesn't act like this with girls especially.
We arrive at the beach. My friend Johnny starts talking about how hot the girl was. I agree with him but add on that she was hella pretty, too. So then my friend Tommy starts a bet saying that he could make her fall in love with him. Johnny smirks.
"Deal. Besides, I'm hotter and cuter than all of you." Johnnys cocky attitude really showed, but then again, i'm pretty cocky as well.
I agree. This challenge was gonna be easy, but it was hard to tell if they only wanted to prove that they're better than each other or if they actually liked her.
She was perfect.
The next day at school we find out that the girl goes to the same school as us. Bobby already waved at her."Guys, take a look. It's the girl from yesterday." We all glance up at her. I see Johnny and Tommy smirking.
"Show time." Says Johnny.
"What do you mean?" Bobby asks him. We didn't tell anyone about the bet except for Jimmy. He wasn't participating in the bet unless he was secretly.
"Oh. Me, Tommy and Dutch set a bet on the girl. Who can make her fall in love with." Johnny explains to Bobby. Then Bobby just rolls his eyes. Then the bell rings. But that gives me a chance to make my move.
"I'll see you guys next period." My goodbye to everyone.
I walk over to the girl. Preparing the charm.
"Ahem, hey, do you have biology next?" I asked her. She looked down at her schedule and nodded.
"I have biology too so do you wanna walk together?" I ask her.
"Sure, I don't really know where my locker is exactly anyways." She looks down at her schedule a second time.
"Your locker is locker 258, right?" I ask her. She nodded her head again. Head nodder.
"Mine is locker 257. So I'll help you get to yours." I say with a slight smirk and then she smiled happily.
"Thank you so much." She says to me. I blush a little. I don't really like the feeling though, makes me feel weak but she was so nice.
On our way to our lockers, I get shocked she starts talking, but I'm not mad.
"So, what are all your names?"
"My friends call me Dutch." I say proudly with a slight grin spread across my face. She looked at me with a surprised look on her face.
"So, am I your friend?" I tried to be flirty a little.
"I don't know. Are you?" She looked back at her feet.
"Alright then."
"The "leader" is Johnny. The one with natural blonde hair. Almost every girl has a crush on him. You know the one about my height but skinnier than me with brownish, blondish, parted hair? That's Tommy. He kinda has anger issues but then again, we kinda all do." Then she laughed hard. Her laugh was so cute. I couldn't help but smile. And then I started to blush. Then I blushed even more knowing that she was looking right at me. I scrunched my nose as I began to look anywhere else. I absolutely hated this feeling.
I continued talking about the guys.
"The one with dark brown hair is Jimmy. He doesn't talk much but once he's comfortable with you he can't stop talking. Plus, he's kinda shy around girls. The last one with brown hair with blonde highlights," before I can say anything she blurts out.
"Bobby Brown." I look at her kinda nervously.
"Oh so you know him?" Shit. I thought. She explained that Bobby offered her a ride home since they were right next door.
I try to hide my jealousy but it's hard. When I put my backpack in my locker I slam it in anger. I try to make a lame excuse saying that my locker is broken. If I don't slam it hard enough it won't close.
"And you still haven't told me your name yet." I say mysteriously.
"Oh right. It's Lagi. Lagi Te Tai."
I see her pull out a lock with a key. We usually have code locks but it's so different and unique. I grabbed my biology notebook. Then we started walking to room 101.
Once we get there, the teacher Mr Sheldon introduced himself. His quirky, goofy mood annoys me. Mr Sheldon explains that we're dissecting frogs in class. Lagi whispers to me,
"I thought they only did that in movies." I can't help but chuckle.
"You're funny." I walk into the classroom and Lagi follows me. I can see her wanting to sit next to the chair next to me.
"Don't worry no one sits here." I say trying to sound polite.
She sits down looking relieved. Then I remembered the two biggest play boys were sitting at the same table. During the first day at school we were all assigned seats and I was forced to sit next to the two play boys in the school. Not much big of a player like Johnny. Freddy Fernandez and Alan Smith. They were best friends and the teacher just had to make them sit next to each other.
When Mr Sheldon took the plates of frogs and placed them on each table, the two players start flirting with Lagi. Good thing she doesn't fall for it. Instead she just looks disgusted. We didn't pay much attention but took notes of the important stuff that we would need for the test we'll have next week.
Then bell rang. Finally. I asked Lagi what her next class is. She told me that she has English. Damn. Johnny had English next. I tried to hide my jealousy. I smirk and say
"good luck, Johnny's in that class." She chuckled nervously.
"Should I be worried?" I tried to warn her and make up things hopefully she won't fall for his charisma. I laughed and walked out the door.
