the silent scream that slipped from chifuyu's lips was one filled with agony. his finger were slick with the blood that was seeping from a wound in baji's head now too. it mixed in with the silk feeling locks of his long, black hair. through his tears, all chifuyu could think of were the words baji had given him just hours earlier.
''i promise. they can't get rid of me that easily, 'fuyu.''
not that it went completely how he wanted it, hell, not at all, but chifuyu had been confident baji would listen to him.
it all started that day chifuyu and takemitchy met. he couldn't remember exactly what it was, but something about takemitchy's story seemed to have more information. or emotion, really, behind it. not that chifuyu could really explain it at that time, but looking back on it afterwards, it made a whole lot of sense.
it was pure luck. or maybe chifuyu was just the only one smart enough to pick up on what takemitchy unsuspectingly and unwillingly put down. just one sentence was enough for chifuyu to grasp on to a theory, which turned out to be right. partially, anyways.
it had been fumbled, mumbled, inaudible. but the words were so clear for chifuyu. 'baji, if you fight, you'll die'. chifuyu's sea foam colored eyes had gone as big as they could possibly be. ''takemitchy...... what did you just say?'' his normal so calm voice was filled up to the brim with disbelief and worry, and a dozen more emotions even he himself could not describe.
then it hit him. for some reason, takemitchy had always known stuff that still had to happen. he knew where to be, what would happen, everything. what if- what if takemitchy..... could see the future? chifuyu hadn't hesitated and just spoke his mind.
Chifuyu being the first person to be completely on his side, takemitchy trusted him. and aside from that, chifuyu kept asking questions. he'd have to give in eventually. and so, he had told chifuyu the story of how baji would die on the day later known as the bloody halloween.
he could't accept that. not baji.
''hey.'' he looked up at the stature in front of him, from the sneakers to the jeans, to the white jacket with it's valhalla ''headless angel'' logo, all the way up to the chocolate brown eyes and silky smooth, long black hair draped over baji's shoulders and chest. ''didn't i tell you to stop contacting me?'' chifuyu looked at the pale face, imagining having to see the light dissapear from those eyes. it would break him.
''it's just me, baji. we need to talk.'' baji looked up at the sky and sighed.
''looks like its gonna rain.'' he looked around them, seemingly looking for shelter, then changed his mind. ''never mind. we'd never make it to shelter fast enough, so we'll be soaked either way. just say what you want to say and ill be off.'' though his words were just slightly, baji's voice wasn't at all. he couldn't be mean to him. that time when he was forced to beat up chifuyu, that broke him on the inside. he liked the guy. maybe in a way more than just friends would.''don't fight tomorrow.'' chifuyu clenched his hands on either side of his hips, arms straight down and tensed up. he could already feel the first raindrops fall on his hands and face, but he didn't care at all. ''i told you-'' chifuyu didn't let him finish his sentence. ''i know! i know, ok. just let me speak.'' there was genuine fear in his voice, baji could hear it.
''if you fight and try to take down kisaki tomorrow, you'll die. i can't say how or why, but you.will.die. i beg you, not to fight. not as your former vice captain, but as your friend.''
the shimmer in his eye when the light fell on it said enough about the tears chifuyu was holding back. with every word he spoke chifuyu raised his voice to overcome the sound of the rain, that got heavier and louder by the minute.
