Third Person's P.O.V

It was finally Christmas Eve and the sins decided not to work in order to spend the holiday together. Christmas was your favorite holiday, you were happy to be able to spend the day with your precious friends and sister...but what you wanted the most was finally be able to tell Meliodas how you felt. You loved him for so long...you couldn't hold in those feelings anymore. "Merry Christmas~! Let's drink till morning!!" Meliodas cheered as everyone had a toast before letting lose, you enjoyed yourself as much as possible. "Hurry up and eat already, I wanna see what I got!" Ban whined as he continued to chug his booze together with Meliodas, it was chaotic but it was perfect. "Meliodas I know you're still eating but would it be alright if we talked outside?" You asked softly as you fiddled with your fingers, you were nervous to tell him that you loved him...but if you didn't now then you would lose the confidence to do it later. "Sure! Hawk don't eat my food okay?" "No promises~" You both finally walked outside as the snow started to fall, luckily you were both dressed warm already. "Is something wrong Y/n? Why do you look so nervous~? Your heart is racing~!" Meliodas teased as he began to grope you like he usually does, but once he stopped you took a deep breath...praying everything would go well. "Meliodas...I'm in love with you! I've loved you for so long...!!" You blurted out as your face turned red, but seeing his expression...you weren't prepared for it. "...I'm a demon." "I know and I don't care! You being a demon doesn't matter to me...I love you and nothing you say will change that!!" You shouted as tears began to drip down your cheeks, his expression...he looked hurt. "I'm...disappointed in you." Meliodas muttered softly to you and your heart broke hearing those words, like a knife pierced through you. "CAPTAIN YOU DUMBASS!!!" Ban came running out the bar as he chased after Meliodas who ran away from you, leaving you in the cold...Elizabeth came outside, holding you close. Everyone was watching you both, and hearing Meliodas' cruel words shocked them all. He never acted like that before...and saying something like that to you angered them, you didn't deserve it. "Sister let's go inside alright...?" You stayed silent, ignoring her words...in your mind you kept replaying what Meliodas said to you. "I'm...disappointed in you." You began to walk away from Elizabeth who tried to stop you, but was held back by Diane. "Give her time Elizabeth..." She whispered as they both watched you leave from the bar, being alone is when more tears began to fall. "Meliodas is disappointed in me...I shouldn't have told him about what I felt. He hates me now...I don't want that." You thought to yourself and with no destination you continued to walk away, the pain in your heart getting stronger. "Captain what the hell were you thinking?!" Ban shouted angrily at the blonde who stood in front of him, he didn't want to be cruel to you...after all he was in love with you too. "I can't protect her...I'm not good enough Ban." Meliodas spoke softly as he clenched his fist, thinking back to the times you were in danger and you almost died...he almost failed to protect you. "So that's how it's gonna be?!" Ban snapped as he suddenly punched him into a tree, causing it to collapse. You opened your heart to Meliodas...and he hurt you. "She's almost died because of me!" "Who do you think you are?! Some kind of superhero?!" Meliodas began to glare at his best friend, he felt his anger rising...he wanted him to understand how you deserved someone else. Someone who was normal, someone who would be able to protect you more than he ever could. "I bet someone like you could protect her! If I could be like you I already would be!! Don't you understand?! I wanted...to be you!" Meliodas' words caused him to fall silent, all this time...he wished to be him. "Go to hell! Go to hell! Go to hell!! So did I...I wanted to be you! And now...you had to say it first!! Easily like it's nothing!!" Ban shouted as he repeatedly punched Meliodas, he felt frustrated...after finally being able to move on from Elaine's death he found himself falling in love with you. He knew it was stupid of him to do that...but he couldn't help it, Ban loved everything about you. Even if he knew you had eyes for Meliodas...he continued to love you, he wanted to be in his place. He wanted you to love him...but told himself he had to let you go, he wanted you happy and if you were with Meliodas then so be it. "I wanted to be in your place...but you're you and I'm me. We can never be anything more...we can only be ourselves. We have to accept ourselves...and face who we are." "Ban..." Meliodas muttered softly as he watched him punch down another tree, he noticed how hurt he was...all this time he was in love with you, and yet he didn't say anything. He was willing to suffer in silence...instead of telling you about his feelings. "You protect her just fine dumbass...maybe it doesn't mean much making someone smile! But when you're with her...she looks so happy. Do you honestly believe I could pull that off? Make her smile just by being there?!" Ban shouted as he tried to catch his breath, he didn't want to be angry...Meliodas was his best friend. It can't be helped if you didn't love him...he had to let you go. "You have to open your eyes and realize there are things only you can do captain! Don't make her cry dumbass...get your damn act together!!" Hearing Ban's words was like a wake up call, he can't push you away...he needed you. He couldn't continue being afraid of failing to keep you safe...he wanted to live happily with you by his side. "What are you still doing here? The guy you claim to want to be just gave you a pep talk, go to her stupid!" Ban huffed as he reached his hand out to him, helping him stand...seeing how determined Meliodas was. "Thank you...Ban." He smiled before running back to the Boar Hat to see you, when he finally returned...Elizabeth told him you left right after he did. "You really hurt her Meliodas, but...I know you love her. She went west!" Elizabeth smiled as he watched him run towards your location, she wanted you to be happy...you deserved to find love. "He ran after her right?" Elizabeth looked towards the entrance to the bar and saw Ban who looked worn out, but...he still had a smile on his face. "He did!" She smiled, knowing everything would work out in the end. As for you...you sat inside a cave in the distance, the tears wouldn't stop flowing. "I have to stop crying...when I see him again, I'll smile. I don't...want him to be disappointed in me. Surely I'll be fine...even without him by my side." You thought to yourself as you watched your tears fall onto the cold hard ground, being alone gave you time to think...you wanted to let Meliodas go, his words hurt. You assumed he didn't want you...and you had to be able to move on, to let him find someone else. "There you are!" You gasped softly as you looked towards the entrance of the cave, seeing Meliodas so soon...it made you cry more. He began to walk closer to you, and you backed away...you didn't want him to see you so vulnerable. "Stay back please...just for a bit!" You begged softly as you covered your face, trying to stop the tears...but it wouldn't. "Stop it...stop crying! Get it together!!" You told yourself as tried wiping away the tears, gasping softly as Meliodas took hold of one of your hands...seeing your tears made him feel so guilty. He hurt you so badly...he focused on his own feelings rather than your own. "I was completely selfish wasn't I? You confessed to me, and I ran...even if I know sometimes in this world you don't get the chance to see someone again. I know that...but if I'm just going to repeat history then how's that better than knowing nothing at all?" Meliodas muttered softly as he kneeled in front of you, he thought back to the time he lost Zeldris...he didn't tell him he loved him that fateful morning, and the next moment he finds out that he died. He could lose you at any time...he didn't want to have any regrets, he wants to be honest and not run away. "Melio-" "I'm sorry for making you cry...I'm sorry for hurting you so much. Please give me one more chance...to make it right. I want to be with you! You and nobody else!!" Meliodas finally admitted how he truly felt about you, you could feel it...how strong his love for you was. "So um...does that mean I'll stay by your side? That we'll...be together? You're saying...I can be with you and hold your hand?" "Y'know...you already are." Meliodas spoke softly as he tightened his grip on your hand, he never wanted to let you go again. You began to cry once more...you were so happy. "Even if it's been said dozens, hundreds, thousands of times...even if the words are a worn out cliche it's still true. This really is...like a dream." Feeling Meliodas' warm hand holding your chin snapped you out of your thoughts, his lips were on yours...and you loved it. After he pulled away moments later, your heart was racing. "You may not remember but that was our second kiss~" "It was?! But when!?" You began to stutter as you were a blushing mess, you didn't remember but...when you were close to dying one day he had kissed you when you had fallen unconscious. He couldn't bare the pain of losing you...he refused to let you die. "You're gonna have to remember the kiss on your own~ If you don't then it won't count!" Meliodas chuckled as he grabbed hold of your hands, helping you stand...looking into your eyes he thought about how he was a monstrous demon. A being thousands of people despised...and yet he fell for you even if you were a goddess. "Do you think...I could hold you? Being with me...you have to accept the fact I'm a monster and-" "Meliodas you really haven't figured it out yet? It's okay because I love you no matter what~ I love you I swear! And that love...it's invincible~!" You giggled happily as you began to smile at Meliodas, he could see the love in your eyes...even after what he said to you, you accepted him anyway. "Well then...maybe I'm invincible too. There's nothing to be afraid of now, not if you're with me!" Meliodas chuckled happily as he pulled you into his arms, holding onto you tightly. "Meliodas..." You whispered as you held onto him just as tight, you were so incredibly happy. He opened up to you...and you accepted every part of him. Him being a demon didn't matter to you, you loved him for who he was. After the two of you finally finished your talk you made your way back to the Boar Hat where everyone was waiting, they couldn't stop smiling. Seeing Meliodas holding your hand, and how big your smile was...it was clear that everything was okay between the two of you. "I ate your food Meliodas~" "That's fine, I'll just eat you instead~!" Meliodas teased as you both took your seats, enjoying everyone's company on a wonderful Christmas Eve. "Merry Christmas~!" Everyone cheered happily and as time went on, the celebration began to get more hectic. Meliodas was busy messing with Hawk, giving you the time you needed to talk to Ban. "Meliodas told me you were the one who gave him advice to come after me so thank you Ban!" You smiled happily as you hugged him, if it weren't for him then Meliodas probably wouldn't have come after you. "It's nothing~ But the second captain hurts you let me know alright? I'll kick his ass~!" Ban teased as he gently placed his hand on your head, smiling at you. He will let you go...even if it hurt. "I will, and Merry Christmas Ban~!" You giggled before running towards Meliodas, trying to stop him from cooking Hawk. "Merry Christmas...Y/n." Ban muttered softly to himself as he went back to drinking booze, trying to ignore the pain in his heart. No matter how much he loved you...you were happy with Meliodas, and that's all that mattered to him.

TIMESKIP

After eating the delicious food and drinking to their hearts content, it was time to exchange gifts. You received a lovely golden heart locket from Meliodas, and from Ban...a beautiful bracelet. Both men loved you...but only one had your heart. "Goodbye...Y/n." Ban thought to himself as he watched you kiss Meliodas, he had to move on...you were happy. That's all he wanted...even if he wasn't able to be with you, it was okay because you had a smile on your face.

Merry Christmas Everyone!! This Christmas special was based off an episode of Fruits Basket! And yes in this oneshot Ban is in love with the reader and Elaine is dead, but I hoped you enjoyed reading it. I actually enjoyed writing this!
