Chapter 10: Our Choices

Y/n's P.O.V

Meliodas left the Seven Deadly Sins as if they meant nothing to him...but that can't be further from the truth. He loves the sins...he's told me that himself, he lost his emotions. If he realized what he was doing...he would hate himself. "Please Meliodas...let me and my sister go!"  "The Seven Deadly Sins and Hawk...everyone is so worried about you!" Elizabeth and I looked at Meliodas, hoping our words would get through to him...but it wasn't enough. "Y/n, Elizabeth...I will protect you both no matter what. I'll become the Demon King and break the curse!" Meliodas spoke firmly as he continued to look ahead, this direction we were headed...it was definitely Camelot. "Meliodas..." I spoke softly, looking into his eyes once more before looking ahead. There must be something we can do...anything.

TIMESKIP

Once we arrived in Camelot, Meliodas slammed the door open as if he owned the place. This kingdom is the place Arthur ruled...how could the commandments ruin it like this? "Yo Zeldris." "The traitor walking into enemy territory~ You got some nerve!"  Zeldris looked at the three of us with an amused look on his face, but he was also frustrated. I know he doesn't have the best relationship with Meliodas... "Not to mention those filthy goddesses are in tow~ The pacifier demon is truly incompetent if they're still alive!" "Hey! I tried killing them as fast as I could-!!" "That's enough Chandler!!" Meliodas interrupted the two from insulting us any further, Elizabeth moved closer to me, holding onto my arm...we were both afraid. "My reason for being here is simple...I've come here to become the Demon King!"  "I'm the one who'll become the next-!" "Fighting over the throne without me~? I want in!" I immediately turned my head, noticing Estarossa walking into the throne room with a woman by his side. He's the one who killed Meliodas back then...but I get the feeling I've met him somewhere long ago. "Hold on...are you both Y/n and Elizabeth?!" "H-How do you know me and my sister...? This is the first time we've met each other!" Elizabeth tightened her hold on me, I'm sure she's worried he would try and take me away...not that Meliodas would let it happen. "I don't know myself...forget it, I changed my mind about fighting for the Demon King's throne! But in exchange...give Y/n to me!"  What could Estarossa possibly gain from having me by his side...instead of being the Demon King? "Sister do not leave my side..." Elizabeth whispered, glaring at Estarossa. I nodded my head, but this whole situation confused me...I don't know Estarossa personally so I don't understand why he would say he wants me instead of the throne. "I didn't come here to pick a fight so let me make two things perfectly clear...the one who'll become Demon King is me! I'm not handing Y/n over to anyone!!" Meliodas shouted angrily, extending his hand to keep me and Elizabeth safe. Estarossa and Zeldris rushed towards him so fast I could barely blink, they were incredibly fast. "You're too greedy for my taste you spineless fool~" "After all this time I won't let you get in the way of my ambitions!!" Meliodas used his darkness to slam his brothers to the ground, not letting them have the chance to stand. "Lord Zeldris!!" "This is a fight between us brothers...stay out of it!" Meliodas attacked the man Chandler called Cusack, he was the one who taught Zeldris how to fight. "This is the true might of a king~ I can barely hold back my tears!" Chandler clapped at the sight of Meliodas hurting his own brothers...but this is too much. "Elizabeth we have to do something..." I whispered, the way Meliodas hurt his brothers without hesitation...he truly was the old version of himself. "I know...at this rate his brothers could die." I could see the pained look on Zeldris' face, and that strange amused look Estarossa had...they were both hurting. "Meliodas stop this! If you continue any further...!" I grabbed onto his shoulder, pleading for him to stop hurting them...he looked into my eyes as if he saw through me. Not even a second later he freed them. "You really are the old Meliodas~ The first son of the Demon King and the older brother I admired! Forgive me for my rudeness~!" As Estarossa said that I could feel his gaze on me, he wasn't going to give up was he? "Even if you accept him Estarossa...I won't, I refuse! Meliodas...the only reason you want to be Demon King is to break the curse on those women isn't it?!" "That's right, but I miscalculated. Even if I took the power father lent you it wouldn't be enough to break the curse." Meliodas spoke calmly despite how insulting his words to Zeldris was, and it angered him. "Shut up...just shut up! I'm the one who's going to become Demon King!!" Zeldris shouted angrily, slashing his sword at Meliodas who blocked it with his darkness. "Sister...!" Elizabeth shouted for me, before I could even turn Meliodas had pushed Estarossa from me. Even as he fought...he still protected me. "Zeldris, I know why you want to become Demon King." "Shut up!!" Meliodas whispered something to Zeldris, letting him go seconds later. What could Meliodas have said to make Zeldris at a loss for words...? "Fine I'll help you...though I'm still not thrilled about it." "Haha~ Did he blackmail you or something?" Estarossa laughed at Zeldris, but I was curious as to what happened between him and Meliodas...why help us? "Elizabeth..." "I know sister.." We turned to look at Zeldris who faced Meliodas calmly, he no longer looked at him with a killing intent. "As you said the power father lent me isn't enough to break the curse, will you train till you reach the level of the Demon King?" "That's too time consuming, we only have three days left. Zeldris, Estarossa...I want you to retrieve all of the commandments." "What do you mean?" Retrieve all the commandments...how would that help break the curse? "Long ago father split his power in half but even that was so great it threatened his own position...so he took that half of his power and broke it into ten fragments, leading to the creation of the ten commandments. If I absorb all the commandments...I will have power on par with the Demon King!" No way...doing something like that is completely reckless. It would do more damage than good. Meliodas continued talking with his brothers, revealing he also stole Gray road's commandment from Merlin...all for this moment. "Meliodas..." Elizabeth looked so disappointed in him...I was as well. He lied to all of us...he hurt his friends. "I'm counting on you two." Meliodas spoke calmly before guiding Elizabeth and I away from the throne room, eventually we reached an empty bedroom. I felt overwhelmed with emotion...I felt angry, disappointed, and sad. "Meliodas don't do this...you absolutely cannot become the Demon King!" "Please understand Y/n..."I'll break this curse no matter what it takes". That was the promise I made to you and Elizabeth..." When I made him promise to break the curse...I didn't want him to do something reckless like this. I wanted him to be free of this eternal suffering...not take on a burden as big as this. "My sister and I are afraid of dying...but what we're really afraid of is being reincarnated without our current memories. We're scared of forgetting our precious friends and family...but the thing that scares me the most is never seeing you again and I'm sure Y/n feels the same way!" "Becoming the Demon King may end up saving our lives...we might even get to keep our memories but you know what will happen if you do this!" The thought of living a life where Meliodas wasn't by my side...it was painful to even think about. "The Demon King's power is great...which means I won't be able to stay in Brittania anymore." "Then what's the point of breaking this curse...? I don't want this...! I don't want to live in a world without you!" Tears began to well up in my eyes, my heart ached at the thought of Meliodas being alone...unable to see his friends, or to see me again. "Because of your mother's curse you're preordained to fall in love with me...once the curse is lifted then all those feelings will be wiped clean as well. So...don't worry." "Are you...seriously saying that? You think Y/n's feelings for you have been manufactured by someone else?!" Elizabeth shouted, she hated seeing me in tears...but his words really did hurt. Did he truly believe all this time...that my love for him wasn't real? "If not then it would be impossible wouldn't it...? For Y/n to fall in love with me every single time she was reborn..." "Then...why? You should've sent me away when we met! I would die and forget everything after I was reborn anyways...! You could've lived your life falling in love with someone else!! What was stopping you?!" I shouted angrily, my tears wouldn't stop flowing. My love for him was real...I fell for him over and over because of how kind he was. So why would he even think my feelings weren't real..? "It can't be helped..." "What are you talking about-?" Once I looked up from the ground I saw it, his loving emerald eyes...his kind smile. "Meliodas...!" "Whatever you it is...whether you were a goddess, a knight, or a princess of Liones, I loved all of you." Meliodas spoke softly with his usual loving smile, it overwhelmed me with pure joy...this is the Meliodas I fell in love with. I held onto him as if my life depended on it, I couldn't let him go. "I promise this is true...all 106 Y/n's and the one I am now, we all fell in love with you through our own will!!" "Meliodas there's still time...let's break the curse together with the Seven Deadly Sins!" Elizabeth was in tears as well, seeing Meliodas as he normally was made us both incredibly happy. I know she loves him...and it hurt to see her go through unrequited love. I know with time...she will move on, and I'll be right there by her side. "Everytime I touched you like this Y/n...my heart was beating like crazy, I couldn't do anything to stop it! But now...I feel nothing." His tone sounded emotionless once again, and when I pulled away from his arms...he was in his Assault Mode yet again. "Get this through your head Y/n and Elizabeth...the only thing I have left is the promise I made to you both." Meliodas spoke calmly as he stared into my eyes, his darkness was overwhelming...and yet I couldn't look away. "Then we'll work together with the Seven Deadly Sins...and use all our strength to stop you from becoming Demon King!" "Don't be foolish...!" Meliodas grabbed onto my wrist tightly, he never treated me this way before...for the first time I felt afraid of him. "Let go of me...!" "Meliodas don't touch her!" He turned to look at Elizabeth, taunting her to attack him...his grip on me was stronger. "Idiot..." Elizabeth muttered softly, summoning a giant orb of light in her hand...slapping Meliodas as hard as she could. Once he let go of me Elizabeth took that chance to hold onto me as she jumped out of the window, we began running away...I didn't want to leave him, but I didn't have any other choice. "Thank you...sister." "I know Meliodas is trying to do everything he can to save us...but we both want to save him too!" I nodded in agreement as we continued to run as fast as we could, we needed to get to the others and fast. Meliodas...wait for us!
