Chapter 7: The Almighty vs. The Greatest Evil

Y/n's P.O.V

Watching Meliodas stab Escanor's stomach like that...I just wanted to run in there and beat some sense into him. He can't hurt his friends...I won't allow it. "Escanor!!" Diane screamed as we all watched him grab Meliodas' face to get him away, we were unable to do anything...except watch. "Meliodas please...stop this." I mutter softly as I clung onto Elizabeth's arm, I could tell she was just as worried as I was. Meliodas wasn't acting the way he has...he's acting like the man we first met. The cruel demon...who would kill anyone in his path without hesitation. "Don't touch me!" Meliodas shouted in a dark tone, unleashing poisonous gas at Escanor...he fell to the ground after that. "Did Escanor actually lose...?" King muttered softly with a shocked look on his face, if Escanor can't fight anymore...Meliodas will kill him. "Merlin undo that spell right now...I will stop Meliodas!" "I'll help as well sister...we have to stop Meliodas from hurting anyone else!" Both Elizabeth and I wanted the same thing...to stop Meliodas from hurting others and find a way to get him back to his normal self. "I'm sorry...but I can't do that. Right now Meliodas is unhinged. He's unable to suppress his dark powers...his mind and memories have been completely eroded. If I were to release him from perfect cube...he'll kill us all." "But...!" I trail off, I know Merlin is right...he would try to kill us all. The way he is now...he is capable of doing it, but even so I can't let him go on like this! "That's crap! There has to be something we can do!!" "It's almost noon." Was all Merlin said after Hawk had shouted at her, noon...what does that mean? "I'm warning you...come at me like that again and you'll suffer." "I do admit you're powerful...second to me that is!" Escanor began to change form, he looked slightly bigger and more muscular. He's able to get stronger...? "Meliodas...Escanor..." I clenched my hands together, watching them fight like this...it hurt. Escanor is one of my precious friends...I don't want him hurting, and I don't want Meliodas to get hurt anymore either. Watching Escanor walk closer to Meliodas...I noticed each step he took melted the ground below. "Super Slash!!" Escanor shouted as he swung his axe at Meliodas' face, causing the ground to shake...I immediately held onto Elizabeth. They were both incredibly strong people...they could die during this battle. "Meliodas don't!!" Elizabeth suddenly shouted and once I looked...I wish I hadn't. Meliodas punched Escanor's stomach, and once he was on his knees...he slammed his foot on his face. "It seems like only your tone changed~" Meliodas smirked as he enjoyed watching Escanor coughing out blood, I don't know...how much more of this I could take. "Not even Escanor can defeat him?!" Hawk shouted as he began to panic, Elizabeth had to walk over there and hug him...I haven't seen him this worried before. "Escanor's current power level is...114,000. The Captain's power level is higher than that...at 142,000. At this rate...he could kill Escanor." Gowther spoke in his usual monotone like voice, but he was worried...all of us were. Escanor's life was in danger...and we couldn't help. "Escanor's power should be increasing and yet...the captain is still able to overpower him?" "This is how he used to be when he was considered a hero of the demon race Diane...the leader of the ten commandments Meliodas!" Merlin shouted as she looked towards the battle along with everyone, but...I couldn't. I kept my eyes on the ground...there has to be something, anything I can do! "Cruel Sun!!" "Full Counter~" Both Meliodas and Escanor were fighting with everything they had...I can't stand around and do nothing! "Don't interfere goddess...he just needs one more push~" This voice...no it's not possible I can hear him from here. There's no way... "Sister are you alright..?" "I'm fine..." Elizabeth knew me better...she definitely knows I'm far from fine. Meliodas isn't the same man I love...he has to go back to normal. I don't want to see this anymore...I don't want to see Meliodas and Escanor fight so relentlessly. "This is the most fun I've had since fighting my younger brother~ You're pretty impressive for a human, too bad I have to kill you." Meliodas spoke darkly as he spit out some of his blood as Escanor collapsed to the ground...it can't end, not like this. "How can we stop the captain when he's like this...?" "He only has a minute left to go." Was all Merlin said to Diane and her words once again confused me, why did she mention something about time again..? I felt Escanor's power increasing suddenly...it felt like a strong aura of the shining sun. "Escanor's power increases as the sun rises and reaches it's peak at high noon. For exactly one minute he'll become the manifestation of invincibility...he then becomes The One." As Merlin spoke I looked at how much more muscular Escanor became, how fire surrounded him...just like the sun. "So you still had that up your sleeve huh? One Thousand Divine Cuts!!" Meliodas smirked as he rushed towards Escanor, slicing at him repeatedly...but it had no effect. "That almost tickles~ Now...Holy Sword Escanor!!" As Escanor sliced at Meliodas' chest...blood bursted out of his wound, causing him to cough out blood. "Damn...you!!!" "How does it feel...to be looked down upon by a human?" Meliodas fell unconscious and I immediately ran towards the two, I had to make sure...he was still alive. "Merlin what about the distortion surrounding Camelot?" "Not to worry Diane, it was dispelled the moment Melascula was defeated." I couldn't concentrate on the words being said, all I could do...was gently hold onto Meliodas' hand. He looked so hurt...I always hated seeing him like this. "We can head to Camelot now!" "I don't know about that Gowther...not with the Captain's condition." King trailed off as everyone watched as I started to hold Meliodas in my arms while I began to stand, but Merlin used her magic to keep him afloat. "Merlin-!" "It's safer this way Sis-sis." I held back what I wanted to say, I can't be selfish right now...even if all I want is to have Meliodas close to me. "Can we at least heal him...?" "You can't heal his wounds either...he could wake up and suddenly attack. Who can stop him then?" There is a possibility that Meliodas could attack us...but can he really do that without hesitating? "I'll beat him as many times as it takes~" "You go almighty man, Escanor is the strongest sin~!" A smile suddenly graced my lips, seeing them act so carefree despite what happened...it was quite refreshing. However that didn't last long...after all the joking and after Merlin punched Escanor, he ended up passing out. Bringing them both back to the bar...I couldn't help but stay close to Meliodas, Elizabeth stayed beside Merlin. I know she was worried about Meliodas...but maybe she wanted me to be the one by his side. "Our situation is dire...Escanor used up all the power he stored when he was in hiding in one day. However the Captain's situation is all the more dangerous...now that his emotions have been snatched away by the Demon King he's reverted to his cruel self." The moment Merlin finished speaking Meliodas had suddenly awoken, grabbing onto my hand tightly. "Meliodas-!" "Shock Stinger!!" Merlin shouted as she used her magic to put him to sleep once again, I immediately ran towards him worrying about his safety. "That was too far Merlin!!" I shouted as I held Meliodas in my arms, glaring at her...how dare she use her magic against him like that? I know she's afraid of what Meliodas would do...and I know she had no other choice, it still made me upset. "Y/n move away from there, I'm going to encase Meliodas in perfect cube." "That's not gonna solve anything Merlin!!" Elizabeth shouted as she stood in front of both me and Meliodas, refusing to let Merlin trap Meliodas like this. "We're at a race against time right now! At this very moment Meliodas is healing his wounds with demonic energy!!" "Give him a chance...please Merlin!" I begged as I held onto Meliodas tighter, I couldn't bare the thought of him being locked away like some animal. "No, he must be isolated immediately!" "Lock me in together with him!!" I shouted with a determined look on my face, I refuse to let Meliodas be alone. "Sister..." "Are you planning a lovers double suicide with Meliodas?!" Everyone looked so worried about me, but I was happy...as long as I was able to be together with Meliodas. "It's gonna be fine Hawk, don't worry. With my power as it is now I may not be able to stop Meliodas if he fully reverts...but I at least should be able to slow down his progression!" "Fine..." Merlin muttered softly as she trapped both me and Meliodas in perfect cube, it's my turn...to protect him. "I'm staying by your side sister...I will keep you company!" "I will stay as well, I'm going to be watching over you just in case~" Elizabeth and Merlin smiled at me from outside of the cube, I couldn't help but smile back...I wasn't alone, I never was. "With Y/n, Elizabeth, and Merlin on the sidelines...what are we supposed to do now?" "We're still going to Camelot according to plan Diane...that hasn't changed. We still have to free the captive Liones citizens and return them to their homes. Not only that...Y/n and Elizabeth only have three days left, we don't have time to waste!" Merlin spoke firmly as I smiled sadly at Meliodas, everyone was working so hard...we had so much going on. Freeing the people of Liones, returning Meliodas to how he used to be, and...Elizabeth's and I's time limit. "Sister everything is gonna be fine...Meliodas will return to us." Elizabeth smiled as she put her hand against the cube and I did as well, she's right...I have to keep hoping. If I give up...everything will stay the same. Not only that I have to find a way to end the Holy War for good...if I don't then my beloved child would have died for nothing. I lost so much...I don't want to lose anyone else!

Zeldris' P.O.V

Those damned Seven Deadly Sins...and the cursed goddesses. They're always getting in my way...and those women who cause my brother to suffer. "I need this damned sword..." I tried to yank Excalibur out of the ground, but it wouldn't budge. The power it gives off is nothing like demonic energy...what could it be? "Zeldris!" I looked up to see the swirl of darkness, my father...the Demon King. "What is it father?" "I have good news~ The Demon King has awoken!" His deep voice echoed throughout the area, he's able to return...so soon? "You're going to rise? I still need time to break the seal!" "Not me. I'm referring to the one who should've succeeded me as the rightful heir~" The Demon King's darkness began to grow bigger, showing me what was going on...the cursed goddess Elizabeth was together with a woman watching over that damned goddess Y/n as she clung to my brother. "That damned traitor?!" "Haha enough of that, you are to welcome your older brother as the new Demon King!" Even after everything Meliodas did to the demon race...he still wanted him to become the king and rule over us? "Tch...that's just-!" "I shall issue my order~ Go forth and bring back Meliodas!" The Demon King laughed as his darkness finally vanished, but...I refuse to let him be the king of demons. I have to become the Demon King...everything I do, it's...for HER!
