Colorful lights hung from every building, some twinkling as the dusk approached. People bustled in nearly every store with handfuls of presents, scurrying along to their next destination to further this wonderful Christmas tradition. There was such a thing as the perfect gift, and Spike did not know what it was for you.
Navigating his way through the craziness, he passed by several shops that he thinks would peak your interest. A good sum of woolong in his pocket and he was ready to blow it all on your gift. Only the best for his girl, the love of his life. The thought of you being disappointed with his choice of your present plagued him. A big holiday with each other, especially if it's the first celebrated as a couple, was huge.
Hands in his pockets, Spike roamed in and out of shops. The makeup store was his first stop in many. It took him a minute while browsing the lipstick counter that getting you some beauty products would come off as an insult to your already breathtakingly gorgeous face.
"Man, this is tough." Spike spoke underneath his breath.
"Is there anything I can help you with?" The saleswoman asked.
Spike shook his head. "I shouldn't even say this, but I don't know what to get my girlfriend for Christmas."
The way the word "girlfriend" left Spike's mouth left a sweet taste, tingling his lips. It rolled on his tongue nicely, and he felt so good just to say it. The saleswoman's eyebrows raised. "Oh that's not good."
"Yeah." Spike sighed. "She wears makeup, but I feel like I would-"
"Be calling her ugly?" The saleswoman chimed in.
"She's beautiful." Spike said, crossing his arms on the counter. "I just want to find something she likes, you know?" The saleswoman nodded, flashing Spike a sympathetic smile.
"Hey, asking for a different perspective. What would be the ultimate gift to get from your boyfriend?" He asked.
A baby!" Another employee chimed in, causing both of them to throw themselves in a fit of giggles. Spike nervously laughed, rubbing the back of his head.
"I think something that's a little bit easier to take care of." He replied, smiling.
"Ah, let's see. Of course, makeup, some nice clothes, and perfume are all nice gifts." the saleswoman pondered, looking off as she was thinking. "To be honest, most of all...a nice piece of jewelry doesn't sound too bad."
Bingo. But from where?
"What would be the best place to find one?" Spike asked, standing up straight. "I don't care how much it'll be or anything, as long as it's as pretty as her."
A collective "aww" was heard from the employees, listening in on the conversation. The saleswoman smiled at Spike. "It's the thought that counts. She'll love anything you give her, I promise."
Spike gave his thanks to her, and left the store for his quest to find the perfect jewelry for you.

"What is that?"
"Oh this?" Jet held up a small bowl of a gooey concoction of reddish brown sludge. "Its the glaze for the ham, smell it."
You wifted the bowl, aromas of sweet and savory filling your nose. "Ah, that's good."
"Just wait for dinner. I can make a mean piece of meat, you'll be going for seconds." Jet chuckled, pouring the mixture over the prized ham that caused you so much trouble earlier. The conversation for Christmas dinner was last minute. Matter of fact, even celebrating the holiday was last minute. It was Jet's suggestion since there was more time and money than they had last year.
