Warning: a lot of angst, buckle up

7:42 AM

The minute you heard the soft clunks of Jet's boots in the hallway, you shot up out of bed and headed to the bridge, where you knew he would be at. You almost tripped over your words, mumbling them together as you nearly slammed the little scanner on the console.

"Look!" You nearly screamed, much to Jet's surprise.

"Geez, what's the rush?" He said, brows furrowed in confusion.

"Okay, listen. We found something back on Yun, you're not going to believe it." You rushed through. You pressed the button, and out popped the hologram. Jet stared at the machine, flipping it around. Initially, he began to form his words, but then stopped.

It was like he was reading through a story so ridiculous, it was baffling. Just pure speechlessness.

"You gotta be shitting me." Jet said in disbelief as he looked at the hologram of your and Spike's discovery. "Why didn't you wake me up for this?!"

"It was late." You replied, crossing your arms. "You were going to wake up soon anyways. I don't think Jo would go all ballistic in just a couple of hours. Its going to take her days to jumpstart her war."

"You'd be surprised."

Jet leaned in closer, moving the hologram around and zooming in. The sun shone into the bridge, the morning coming quicker than you wanted it to. You glanced over to see Spike, with small bags under his eyes. He saw the same for you, admiring your hair in different directions. The only peace he would find in this already crazy day. He held onto his mug, taking slow sips.

You shot him a sleepy wink, getting a side smirk in return. What you did know, you needed a sip of whatever was in that.

Spike's heart swelled, despite the situation that was under discussion. He could never get used to how cute you looked in the morning. God, he wanted to see this every day, every night. Your face lit up by the sunlight, glowing from last night's activities nearly sent him on his ass by the sheer beauty in front of him.

He never wanted someone so bad before in his life, to be by his side-

"Spike, did you hear what I said?" Jet said loudly, his eyes trained on the daydreaming bounty hunter.

"What?" He replied nonchalantly.

Some of the mechanics on this thing are way past my expertise." Jet noted. "There is not an inch on this thing that doesn't have any gun. Even right here." He pointed to an obscure spot on the machine that you didn't think could even be visible to those who were underneath it. He squinted his eyes at him again, like he was scolding him for not listening to him the first time around.

"No fucking way." You said, looking at it again. "I'm just wondering how quickly she built this."

"It doesn't take them long. Commissions from syndicates are a good means of woolong. You bet your ass they would probably lick the dirt off of their boots if they say so." Jet noted, flipping the hologram back around again.

"Sounds about right." Spike said, sipping from his mug. "How do you not know this?"

"About special favors? I do." You shrugged, remembering the various free cups of coffee and sweets that were handed to you (with fear in their eyes, you hated that), just because of the pin on your lapel. "I'm just surprised that this was even in the budget."

"You've been away for a while. Jo was feeling some type of way, and went on a shopping spree." Spike voiced. "And it looks like we have more against us than we thought."
