After that, Kyoya left. Tamaki couldn't stop the breakdown that came after it, the regret in what he said. 'I hate you' echoed around his head. I said that to my best friend, to the one who's been there for me through everything, to the one person I could never hate.

He didn't care about the tears that flew out of his eyes, nor the aching in his chest, or the other hosts standing in stunned silence. He wasn't angry at Kyoya, and most definitely did not hate him, it's for the best, he told himself. I have a month to marry someone and no matter who I pick, it will hurt both of us as long as we are friends. The simple solution to Tamaki was to end the friendship, but he didn't expect it to come this quickly or to hurt as much as it did. There was a large, gaping hole inside of his chest where his heart was supposed to be, he was half expecting to collapse and die on the spot.

It was Haruhi who moved first, kneeling in front of him offering a hug which he immediately took. The tears ran out like a stuck faucet, and he couldn't stop thinking about while he has the host club here to help him, Kyoya was now alone. Just like before the two had met.

In the following days of the week, no one in the club saw Kyoya and there were no replies to calls or messages however they saw him active on Spotify so assumed he was alive (the twins had found Haruhi listening to music it and Tamaki made the executive decision the whole club will sign up). On Saturday, Tamaki and Haruhi tried to visit but found there were orders issued to keep them out. The next day Hikaru, Kaoru, Huni and Mori went to visit.

They were only slightly more successful as one of the household staff handed them a note Kyoya had written. The group met with Tamaki and Haruhi at her house and opened the letter.

Dear host club,

I do apologise for abandoning you this week. It was not my full intention as I was mostly kept away by family issues. I have thought a lot about what Tamaki has said, and have hereby decided to leave the host club, however, I am not sure whether it will be temporarily or not. You need not worry as I will continue with managing the finances until the decision is made.

I wish you the best until we meet again,

Kyoya Ootori.

"Does he think we are,"

"Only worried about the finances?" Hikaru finished Kaoru's sentence. Mori only nodded in affirmation.

"For the smartest guy in the club, he sure is an idiot," Haruhi chimed in, "but what do we do about it?"

"There... is nothing we can do," Tamaki finally spoke.

"That's awfully pessimistic of you, boss."

"I think Tama-chan is right. We can't force Kyo-chan to do anything including come back," Huni-senpai said with a mouthful of cake, "no matter how we feel about it, we have to just continue as normal."
