Chapter Four

   "That's why, Vander."

"I knew it. The freckle underneath your right eye, the piercing blue eyes and the long blonde hair." He said pouring me some orange juice. "Yeah, I don't mind just don't bring any trouble."

"That reminds me. Vi said she was going on a job today. When will she be back? I have to apologize again." I said to him as I drank from my cup.

"What job?"

——

"What is Princess Victoria doing here?" Vi asked Vander. She said my name with pure hatred. "Everyone alright?" Vander asked while walking down. He motioned me to follow him and I did. "Never better." Mylo replied. They all sat down on the couch with their head down.

"Good. I don't suppose you can explain why it's is that I'm hearing about an explosion and a for chase topside? Four children feeing the scene... what the hell were you thinking?" Vander asked Vi. She didn't look at him but made eye contact with me. I felt her anger and sadness. I felt betrayal. It made my heartache.

    Look away.

   I can't

  She's doing it on purpose.

I held the eye contact. She moved her eyes first, looking at Vander. "That we can handle a real job."
"A real job?"

"We got our own tip, planned a route, nobody even saw."

"You blew up a building."

"That wasn't-"

"Did you even stop to think about what could have happened to you? Eh? To them? Where did you even get this tip?" Vander asked his voice increasing volumes by the second.

"Little man." I told him before stepping up. "You guys blew up a building? God my mom is gonna need me home for this. What building was it?" I asked. "North of the Academy." My mouth dropped. "That's...impressive you managed to get there but still terrible." When I said impressive she shot me a look.

Even though she is mad at you she still feels proud to impress you. How peculiar.

"I took us there. If you wanna be mad, be mad at me. But you're the one who always says we have to earn our place in this world because some people are born into it." She said standing up and looking over at me. I didn't look up but I could feel all their eyes on me. "I also told you time and time again, the Northside is off-limits. We stay out of Piltovers business."

"Why? She has plenty. While we're down here scraping together coins and taking her leftovers. Since when did you get so comfortable living in someone else's shadow?" Vi said pointing at me. There it was. The same ache of pain in my heart.

  She's not looking at you

  And?

It's your own heart. Congratulations on being the only person with demonic blood who actually feels something.

Is that sarcasm?

no

I feel like it is

It is not

"Everybody out." Vander said. Claggor and Mylo were first out and I followed behind Powder. "Not you, Victoria." I froze before moving back to the couch.

Boo
