Chapter Ten -

It was dark and silence filled my ears. The walk to the bridge was short and no one said a word. I felt Vi stop and I turned. "Vi?" Ekko asked. We all turned to her waiting for an answer, but I already knew what it was. Jinx. She believed Powder was still in there and part of me wanted to as well but things changed. This is a matter life and death. Jinx cannot escape what the council had in store for her.

     "I can't leave her again."

Her voice was soft and filled with regret. "You can't change her." I told her. Ekko stood next to me and nodded. "I have to try." She replied. "You're going to die trying." I told her before turning away. She was leaving me again and I didn't want to say goodbye this time either.

"Wait!" I didn't stop walking. If I turn around I would go crawling back to her. I was willing to throw away the crown and the entire world for...her. "Don't turn around." I mumbled to myself. Then I felt warm and it spread around my body. She hugged me.

"Don't let this be like last time." She whispered in my ear. "Last time you didn't have a choice to leave me." I mumbled. She still hugged me from behind and her chin was resting on the top of my head. "It hurts me-"

"It hurts me more to know you're leaving for your sister who is gone." I said. She turned me around and grabbed my face. "Don't say that. You loved her as much as I did." Her face got closer to mine and I pulled away from the hug. "Powder is gone. If you want to go search for the ghost of a dead girl...be my guest. Just don't come back to me when you find out she's gone." I snapped. She reached out for me again but I pushed her arms away.

     "Don't fucking touch me."

I felt her hand grab my arm and pull me. "I said don't-" I was cut off by her lips on mine. I tried to fight back but my heart always wins in the end. It was my breaking point. I let a tear escape."You can't keep leaving me." I mumbled as I pulled away. "I know and I'm sorry." She said and lifted my chin up. "Just don't let this be how we say goodbye." She added.

I hugged her. Her arms wrapped around my waist and I almost didn't want to let go. "You better go now before I change my mind." I whispered in her ear. She looked at me and kissed the top of my head before leaving.

"She must be important to you."

    "She is."

I turned to the both of them and smiled. "Let's get the gemstone to the council, shall we?" We walked to the other side before lights were put on us. I put my mask on and stayed next to Ekko. "Sir! I have proof. Silco is behind everything." I watched Marcus pull down the weapon of an enforcer. He came closer.

"Show me."

Caitlyn turned to Ekko and she gave him a look. I shook my head. "No." Ekko and I said in unison. He fell under the pressure and opened the container containing the gemstone. "Shit."

I saw Marcus's expression change. On minute Ekko was standing up and the next he was on the floor. "Ekko!" I didn't feel anything until I touched my side. "Marcus." I said as I pulled my mask up. I saw his horrified face as he realized who I was. He turned the gun to Caitlyn and grabbed the container.

I fell on the floor and held my side. I screamed in pain as I dug around for the bullet. My fingers finally got ahold of it and took it out. I needed to take it out before I would start healing around it.

    "Victoria!" Vi yelled.

"I told you to leave this alone." He said to Caitlyn. I saw pretty green lights coming from Vi's side. I watched as one fly on Marcus' gun. One landed beside me and I watched as the wings changed and the antennas touched. "Jinx." I said before a huge explosion blasted on my face.

I slowly opened my eyes as saw Marcus on the floor next to me. He was still alive. "I'm sorry." He told me before coming to my side. I stood up as my wound healed already and grabbed my gun. "You're a traitor." I yelled as I put the gun on his head. "So you'll die like one." I added and pulled the trigger.

He fell on the floor. Dead. I came to my senses and looked around. "Caitlyn!" I picked her up and looked up to see Vi. "Her other side." I said and she quickly obeyed. I looked up to see Jinx. She had the container and she scoffed as she looked like she had just been betrayed.

She looked directly at me before firing her machine gun. I pushed Vi and Caitlyn away and tried to move out of the way but it was too late. I had been hit multiple times. I screamed in pain as I tried to stand up.

"Don't move." Vi said before picking me up. "Caitlyn! Can you stand?" My ex girlfriend nodded and she limped towards us. I screamed in pain again as I held my leg. "My wounds are healing around the bullets. It's trying to rip through the bullets and my flesh is ripping apart again." I cried.

I started shaking before I dug through my wounds and looked for the bullets. My screams of pain filled the air. I felt Vi's hand dig through and look for them as well. "Seven." Caitlyn said as we finished pulling them all out. My breathing became heavy and I looked up to see Ekko facing Jinx.

He can't do it. He says he's tough but the feelings of your first crush never go away. "Ekko!" I yelled. Vi dragged me away as I fought back. "He's gonna die! Vi you have to let me help him! Vi! Let me go." I felt so weak and tired.

"Ekko can do this." Caitlyn told me. "He's not a boy anymore." Vi reminded me. I stopped fighting and saw Caitlyn hold up the container. "He gave it to you? When?" I asked. "When you both were too busy digging out bullets." Caitlyn replied. I took a look back at the bridge and heard a bomb explode. My heart skipped a beat. "Ekko..." I cried.
