It's your stereotypical one shot based on the title but with a possible twist or two (idk)

It was that stupid date again. A date that will forever be etched into Tony's brain, unable to forget it.

He always felt like shit on his parents's death date. He couldn't help it. No matter how much he hated Howard, he was still upset that he'd died. Howard was still his father.

And even though he'd let Steve and his gang come back and stay at the Complex, he still didn't trust any of them enough to tell them what was wrong with him.

Except Bucky. But that was only because Bucky already knew, for obvious reasons.

Tony wasn't sure how he felt towards the male. Bucky was fun to be around, but he'd killed Tony's parents.

'It wasn't his fault.' Steve had always told him.

Tony knew this, but he didn't know who or what else he could blame. He genuinely liked Bucky though, so he normally kept quiet about the matter.

Bucky knew exactly what day it was, and he was terrified. He didn't know how Tony would react to seeing him, and didn't want to harm the friendship that had slowly started to form between the two.

He stayed in his room until Steve had come by and threatened to drag him downstairs, and Bucky still hesitated to get out of bed.

He got dressed and pulled his hair into a low ponytail before heading towards the communal kitchen in the complex. He kept quiet, more so than usual, which threw a few people off.

Not Tony though. He was making coffee when he heard Bucky walk in and slid the soldier a mug, going a few feet away and sitting on the countertop. He was immediately scolded by Steve, but Tony ignored the blonde.

Bucky made his own cup of coffee and vacated the room as soon as he could, heading to the living room.

This treatment continued on all day. Tony doing what he could to see Bucky (he wasn't sure why. His brain just barked orders and his body listened), and Bucky avoiding him at all costs.

Tony decided that he'd had enough.

He was currently in his lab, black sweats and a black tank top on. He glanced around, "JARVIS, send Bucky down here, will you? Tell him I've got an upgrade for his arm."

The AI didn't respond for a few seconds, but finally spoke up, "Mr. Barnes stated that he'd be down soon."

"Ask him how soon."

"Approximately 5 minutes."

"Thanks J."

The AI went silent, and Tony went to his workbench. Him having an upgrade for Bucky's arm wasn't necessarily true, but it wasn't a lie. He needed to make sure Bucky would be comfortable with the upgrade and what it could do before any more work was put into it.

Bucky appeared a few minutes later, keying in the passcode and walking into the lab. He slowly made his way to Tony, "JARVIS said that you needed me..?"

Tony perked up, "Yep. Sit right there." He pointed to a clear spot on the work table.

Bucky nodded and sat down, glancing around the lab. He watched as Tony gathered his things silently, sorting them out. Tony looked over, "So I've heard that your arm's movements have been sensitive lately, right?"

"Y-yeah.. I've been breaking shit all week." Bucky kept his eyes trained on the male.

"Alright..Does it feel loose at all? If not, it may be something on the inside." Tony walked over and pulled Bucly's sleeve up past the elbow, muttering to himself as he bent the metal joint, "It doesn't seem loose. I think I've got something for it, but I want to make sure you're cool with it before I install it."

Bucky only nodded, still looking at the male. As Tony moved to get the upgrade, he looked down at the floor. Tony walked back over and stood in front of Bucky, placing a hand on each side of him, "Barnes, talk to me."

Bucky was a bit startled to say the least. He stared down at Tony nervously, but did his best not to let it show. Tony sighed, "You and I both know what day it is. And yeah, I'm upset, but not at you. I'm more mad at myself."

The soldier made a confused face, but let Tony continue, "I could've - I should've - done more for them. I was just a little immature asshole who never told their parents that they loved them because he thought that he was invincible."

"There's so many things I could've done for them, and I didn't. Made my mother do all the work, made my father stress more. And then they died. Just like that. There was nothing anyone could do about it. And I blamed you, for so long. I blamed you because I didn't want to have to blame myself."

Bucky kept his eyes trained on the male, who was in the same position, but looking down. Bucky bit his lip, "..They did love you. You know that, right?"

Tony only glanced up. Bucky continued, "The last words I heard out of that woman were "Howard" and "Tony".. and those words haunt me every damn day that I wake up in this place."

"It wasn't you." Tony sighed, "I know I'm just repeating Steve's words, but I'm serious. That wasn't you. You and the Winter Soldier aren't the same person. You were being controlled."

Bucky only looked at the floor. He knew better than to argue. He'd always get into arguments with Steve about whether or not the deaths had been his fault, and he always lost. That being said, Tony could argue better than Steve could.

Before Bucky could react, Tony leaned forward, resting his head on the male's chest. The soldier froze, glancing down as Tony wrapped his arms around the male.

He did the only thing he could think of, pulling the shorter male closer. Bucky knew, or thought, that this was more for Tony's comfort rather than his own.

Tony did his best not to cry. He really did, but the minute he felt the arms around him, a few tears had already slipped.

He stayed in the soldier's arms until he was at least a little sure that he wouldn't break down the minute he looked at the other. When he started to pull away, Bucky let Tony slide out of his grip.

Tony glanced up, staying close to Bucky. He knew that Bucky wouldn't say anything about him crying, so he didn't care if he could see it or not.

It was at this moment when he realized that he'd gotten closer to the other. Much closer. Their foreheads were touching, and Bucky had shut his eyes, his breathing a bit choppy.

Tony paused, contemplating on backing off or just going with it.

But when did Tony Stark ever back off?

He pressed his lips against the other's slightly, feeling him tense up. He pulled away after a second or two, looking up at the other.

Bucky was stunned, his eyes now wide. He blinked, looking down at Tony. He then leaned down and kissed the billionaire.

Tony immediately responded, kissing the male back as his hands went to his shoulders.

The two pulled away from each other after a few seconds, just staring at the other.

Bucky was the first to speak up, "..So...we're alright?"

"I think we're more than alright." Tony smiled
