Hello, sorry for the delay. Been a busy week. Month actually, but I'll try to continue.
Shit. Shit shit shit! My parents are here! Here it goes...
Father Way.... Gerard seemed to notice my hesitation towards the waiting room, because he moved closer to me and slid his arm behind my back.
"Mr. and Mrs.Luka." Gerard extended his free hand to them while I stayed silent. Here comes the false care they were going to give.My mother smiled, taking his hand gently "Thank you for helping our daughter. What did the doctor say?"
He let go of her grip, returning to my side. "Her arm's broken, and she'll need surgery. They suggested immediately, so I'll sign the forms to get it done tonight."
"Why can't it be done later?"
Really mother? Sometimes you don't think.
"My arm's broken. It's kind of very painful right now, and they put me on a vicodin." I tried to explain, but she shot a look at me that told me to stay silent and let the almighty adults speak in their civilized language that I could never comprehend. Bullshit. I may not be an adult, but I know that when the human body is injured, it should be taken care of as soon as possible so it won't heal wrong.
Gerard seemed to understand, however. He cares a lot. It shows, too.
"We don't want her hand to heal incorrectly. That's going to require breaking again and then spending more time to position it. That'd be even more time consuming and obviously more painful than it currently is." the priest spoke eloquently.
"...Oh" she said quietly. That's right, mother. I'm not supposed to wait just because it's inconvenient for your schedual. My pain isn't worth less than your time. I'm not supposed to suffer just because you don't want to wait an hour or so.
The priest calmly smiled, "you don't have to wait for her. I'll stay and bring her home when they're done. You seem busy and your husband looks like he's falling asleep." he pointed out my dad, who works night shifts and was in the chair nodding off.
My mother nodded, "alright"
"Daddy" I said as I sat beside him to wake him.
My dad gently woke up, "Oh... Hi, sweet. How are you?"
"My arm's broken, and I'm gonna need surgery. I'll be okay though."
He nodded sleepily, getting up."Come on, love. Let's get you home to bed." my mother said, taking his hand.
"What about Jess?"
"I'll look after her." Gerard said softly, getting my father's attention for once. "You can go ahead and sleep," he smiled reassuringly.
My father nodded, taking my uninjured hand and kissing my cheek, "Be safe, daring. I love you."
"I love you too, daddy." I smiled.
Once my parents left the room, Gerard took the forms and began to fill them out. "Your mother's a piece of work." he said softly
"She can be stubborn and unreasonable, but I do love her." I said softly, laying my head back. It was already eight-thirty. "It's late"
Gerard nodded, "mhm""You look tired." I noted after noticing the sleepiness in his eyes. He definitely looked like my dad does when he finishes a long night at work.
"Mhm" Gerard continued to fill out the stupid medical forms."You should probably be getting some sleep." I said,
"Mhm" the same damn reply.I sighed, laying back in the chair. Well, it was actually a couch, but same difference. That doesn't matter.
Out of boredom and tired of the silence, I began to hum. I felt like some Fall Out Boy would make a good lullaby. A slowed down, lazy version of Sugar We're Going Down. I sang the beginning in my head, humming along.
'Am I more than you bargained for yet?
I've been dying to tell you anything,
you wanna hear.
Cuz that's just who I am this week.'I seemed to get Gerard's attention, because when I looked over, he was watching me with an impressed smile.
That only made me blush, "now you pay attention?"He chuckled, "it was nice. Slow, but nice. Fall Out Boy is awesome."
"You know Fall Out Boy?"He returned to filling out the forms, irritating me with no response. Even though he confirmed it by announcing what I was humming.
Jerk.
