'chapter 18'-thoughts

"chapter 18" - talking

3rd pov.

"Do you really need to go with him?"

"What do you mean?"

Tom stares at her dumbly. His face screaming you know what I mean. Alex did know but she wanted to figure out why he wanted to know.

"I'm going to be 'introduced' to quidditch- Whatever that means - do you not want me to."

Tom thanked merlin he had a perfect mask otherwise he would be flushed and showing his emotions.

"I don't care what you do. I just don't get your want to be 'introduced' to that sport. It's ridiculous."

Alex felt her heart sting when he said that he didn't care. Why would he care? She had to remind herself that she was a Grindlewald. People wouldn't care about her.

"Oh," Tom felt his throat burn when he heard the disappointment. "I guess I just want to know why people like the sport. I remember a man in Azkaban who use to cry about he missed his broom. I guess I'm curious."

"It's a dumb sport. People get injured all the time. Slytherin's team is good but the people in it were taught and trained previously."

Diggory came over to their table. Many Slytherins eyeing him suspiciously. Not that he cared.

"You ready m'lady." He held out his hand but she got up by herself.

"Yes let's go, Malachi taught me the rules but I want to see the actual sport."

"Oh, that's great because I suck at explaining them. Come on then."

They left the main hall. Many people looking at them in awe. House unity as well as both of them being attractive. Alex had collected quite the fan club, Diggory had most of the Hufflepuff girls drooling over him as well as a respectable number of Ravenclaws. So seeing them together...Not a whole lot of people liked it. Funny enough, some feared it.

"They were staring," Alex said softly.

"It's not every day they see such a beautiful woman leaving the hall with a male. A lot of people were probably jealous." Diggory laughed at the look of disgust on her face.

"No, I think that many were jealous of you being with me. I'm pretty sure I saw a Hufflepuff tear up."

Diggory laughed and they reached the quidditch pitch.

"These are the practice brooms. Not super reliable but they do the job."

"Don't you have your own?"

"Of course. As if my parents would let me use these in games."

Alex chuckled softly not seeing the look on his face. His eyes and a small smirk lifted the corner of his mouth.

"Of course."

--

She did as he instructed, the broom shooting to her hand instantly. Diggory's eyes opened a fraction but he didn't comment. The brooms only did that if the rider had the correct qualities of a quidditch player.

"Okay, let's try flying. Mount your broom..yeh like that. Hold tight then kick-off."

She did just that and hovered there. Perfectly balanced.

"Shit, look at you. You're a natural."

She smiled bashfully. "You joining me?"

He hopped on his broom and then motioned for her to follow. They did one slow lap of the field, Diggory watching closely in case she looked as though she might fall. She never did. He was pleasantly surprised by the amount of control she had. They flew around for about an hour. Alex was having an amazing time. The way the air moved through her hair, the feeling of freedom she experienced...it was incredible.
