"chapter 11" - talking

3rd Pov

"Want to explain what happened?"

It wasn't a question, more of a polite demand.

"Sir, I was walking back from the dungeons after forgetting my bag this morning with another Slytherin when I saw the Rosier kid getting ganged up on by five Gryffindor sixth years. I felt the need to help. So I did. The Gryffindors thought they were going to get into trouble so they tried cursing me and my friend. I took care of it."

"You used some dark curses. I don't think I need to remind you what would happen if anyone from the ministry found out." Alex paled. 'What if he tells them?' she thought. A sick feeling picking at the bottom of her stomach.

"No sir. I'm sorry I wasn't thinking. Are the boys ok?"

"One is getting his bones mended. Another is unconscious with head injuries. How you managed to make one try to beat his friend to a pulp, I don't want to know. This is not going to be something that will go quickly. Please never make this mistake again. You're a smart girl don't waste your life away protecting random people."

"Sir he wasn't random. When I was in Azkaban-" His eyes flinched at the name. "Lord Rosier visited me to give me the deal. He was the first person to ever show me kindness. I wasn't going to disrespect that kindness by allowing his child to get hurt."

Tassinari's eyes softened as he took in the reasoning for her actions.

"Promise me the next time you find yourself in that situation you'll get a teacher."

"I can't promise that sir, but if it's a choice I will take it."

He sighed in defeat. Being a past Slytherin himself he knew that the school prejudice against Slytherin made them a target. He knew that she might not have the time to get a teacher next time and he was upset that she would have to put herself in danger. But he now knew she was more than capable of protecting herself and others, so he was more concerned she might get caught. Azkaban was still an option for this girl, one slip up could cause a disaster.

He thanked merlin that Reiki didn't want to get her in trouble either. The school was informed that the boys had an incident with improper use of spells leading to a magic backlash.

"Lord Rosier is coming by soon to see his son. I'm sure he would like to see you."

"May I go to the medical centre?" She gave a stunning smile. The idea of seeing the man made her happy. During the time they spent together she had seen the man as a father figure. He even took her out for ice cream when they first left the jail. It was the best experience she ever had.

"Right away. Just let me write you a note."

He handed her a note and they left the office.

The class went partly silent and she packed up her stuff.

"Don't forget the homework." He called out as she left. She simply smiled and gave a mocking salute. He chuckled and turned back to the class.

"This year is going to be interesting." He whispered, sliding into his chair.

Tom sat in the front row watching the whole interaction with curiosity. She had this man around her finger. What did they even talk about? Where is she going? His mind was spinning with the different questions going through his head as well as the guilt of one of his own getting hurt. 'Damn it, I need answers soon.' He thought bitterly.
