3rd Pov. 

"Alex look at me." She met his eyes. "Are yo-"

She cut him off by hugging him. Her body was immediately engulfed in a hug. She felt her body relax a little.

"Thank you for be-being there." She said into his chest.

"Anytime."She pulled back slightly embarrassed she had hugged him.

"Now I'm pretty sure there is a special somebody waiting for you in the commons."He wiggled his eyebrows and she blushed. Slughorn gasped. "So it is true, you two are an item."

"Stop, but yes we are. To-"

"I thought it was Mr Walker?"

"Excuse me...?"

"Malachi has been seen sleeping in your room?"

"SIR! No, for one Malachi is my brother-" Sluhorn tilted his head in confusion." - and there is no possibility of being together as neither one of us feels anything more than a familial bond."

"How can you be sure. You may not like him but he might fancy you."

"Sir, it is not my secret to share but I can tell you with confidence Malachi would rather french kiss a fish than someone like me."

Slughorn didn't look convinced but understood and appreciated the term 'secret'. 

"Oh thank Merlin. I thought I might have to get Madam Reiki to give you the talk and be forced to block Mr Walker from your room."

"There is no need sir. I've already had that talk from Sal." She cringed at the memory. 

"What?" 

"No sex till marriage, your purity means more than some heated moment choice, do not be reckless in youth, should you bear an heir before leaving school one very large snake will be coming to bite off Toms-"

"Ohh so your dating Tom...YOUR DATING TOM! HOW WONDERFUL." Slughorn was laughing thinking about how the painting had told Tom to find a powerful spouse to keep the bloodline going back in his second year. The look on Tom's face was incredible. For such an emotionally conserved boy, he did have quite the funny embarrassment face. "I always saw this coming. I give him my full blessing should he ever ask it."

Alex looked at the ceiling praying to Merlin Slughorn would shut up. 

"Should he ever decide such a path then I'm sure he would appreciate the approval. I don't think he would get my fathers."

"Yes, no one is good enough for their daughters."

"No, I mean he is a Half-blood. That is a big no-no in Gellert Gindlewalds book."

"Do you wish for your father's approval?" Slughorn asked hesitantly. He knew she had no problem being friends with muggle-borns or half-bloods, but friendship is very different from relationships. 

Alex looked him straight in the eye. "Sir, your blessing means more to me than anything my father has or would do for me."

Slughorn felt tears prick the corner of his eyes. He couldn't have children himself so her words really did hit home. The amount of pride and appreciation for a person valuing his approval made him long for his own children, mini-Horaces running around a misses Slughorn.  He had spent most of his life longing for that dream. No person he had been interested in hadn't stayed after finding out he couldn't reproduce. He had soon given up on it.
