The sparse population of the Eldians in the walls, being Levi squad as well as Hanji, were scouting, as they did best. Zeke and his group of titans returned to Marley and told them of their victory. Through much consideration as well as arguments, it was decided that you were all to be let free. They all concluded that you had been too far beat to ever try to get revenge. And even if you wanted to, you were not a threat. The decision, although involving a lot of controversy, was simple simply because everything had been taken from you all. You wondered if the other Eldians would be freed one day. But, they viewed you as devils just like the Marleyans. There was no use fighting for an enemy who despised you all, even though you might've had common ancestors. Maybe one day the world would come together in peace and realize past actions are of the past. A new generation would arise. Or so you hoped. Your squad gathered any remaining supplies that hadn't been destroyed. There were seeds, plants, plenty of fuel, and the scouts' disgusting energy bars of course. This is all you needed. You all rode on your horses in silence trying to find a place to live. Where would you go?

The pattern of the horses' hooves were lulling you to sleep once again. Levi is next to you and notices you nodding off. He just looks at you feeling your tiredness. Everyone had an exhausted and dull look on their face. The mood was horrible. There was hope in the air, but the sorrow of the situation overtook you all in this moment. The valley turned to a forest of tall trees. It was a smaller forest that you hadn't been through. It was beautiful, but what was even more beautiful was the sea on the horizon. The sun was setting and made your faces glow a beautiful golden color. You looked at Levi in awe and he gives a half smile. That's all it takes to make your spirits higher. You and Levi who are leading the group stop. You turn around reading his mind knowing he agrees with you,
"This is the place."
The others look around, their eyes wide with wonder. Armin's eyes sparkle with tears. He looks at you.
"Eren...E-Eren should be here..." he says holding back tears.
Your mouth turns down and tears threaten your eyes, "I know Armin. I know."
Mikasa was still out cold and was laying in a small wagon Jean and Connie were pulling with their horses. You were glad for this fact because you dreaded the moment you'd have to tell her what happened. You all advance towards the forest. You hear rustling...good...that means food.
Sasha's head snaps towards the sound. You and her used to hunt together as kids. You knew these familiar sounds. You looked back at her and smiled.

Your squad and Hanji are up in the trees lounging around and trying to calm the rollercoaster of emotions you have all felt. You and Levi are sitting next to each other. He leans his head on your shoulder. You run your fingers through his hair, after all this it's still soft. You almost smile at this. You all had planned to build shelters in the trees up away from any titans that might be roaming around. You believed this to be the best way of defense. Your ODM gear would last long enough, but you figured it would be best to learn how to fight without it. The trees could make that possible. Levi glances at you noticing you being deep in thought,
"What are you thinking about y/l/n?"
You sigh realizing you had been holding your breath. You look at him grabbing his hand.
"Just about everything Captain..."
He intertwines his fingers into yours.
You ask, "do you think this can be our home...what is there even left for us? Everything is gone and everything is different. How are we supposed to-"
He says quickly noticing your voice breaking, "I promise you it'll be okay and remember...I'm still here Y/n. You are not going to lose me." You look into his eyes seeing how blue they look with the stars on them.
"I love you Levi."
"I love you Y/n."
You smile and so does he. It feels good after everything that happened. Everything felt broken and destroyed and in fact most of it was, but you were with Levi. You had each other. If you made it this far you refused to go out anytime soon. You wouldn't lose him and you wouldn't leave him. You were determined now. This could be your home. Maybe one day this world won't be so screwed up...until then you had your squad. These people are your family. You looked around and saw all of your friends. Your heart felt like it was stabbed as you remember Eren isn't with you all. But at that moment you felt like he was there. He wasn't there, but a part of him had to be. No one is truly gone, not unless you forget about them. But you all could never forget about Eren and all of the things you had went through.

At the edge of the forest, you drag a rake across the open dirt. It was calming seeing the many lines you made stride after stride. You were planting more rows of corn and potatoes. You all had different jobs around the forest. Today you were on gardening. The sun blazes down onto your body and it almost stings. It was warmer than usual and you stand setting your tool down for a break. You take your arm to your forehead and wipe the sweat that had formed there. You look around at all you had created. There was a full garden, practically a farm. The trees were filled with tiny little tree houses. You all had made a pulley system to get up to the trees easier. You see Sasha walking towards the others with her hands full of what would be dinner. You barely hear it, but you can hear Jean poking fun at her with some joke about meat. Even after the disastrous end of the walls and of your past lives, things were still the same. No one had came to bother you all. It had been peaceful. Of course it was a struggle getting things started. It's a lot of work, but it's nice. You realize even though in a sense you had lost, you all still got what you wanted. You knew the truth of the world and you had your peace. You had your lives.
"Tch...y/l/n better get back to work if we want to finish before sundown."
You let out a laugh at his usual demeanor and respond, "yes sir."

You and the squad are standing out in front of the sea. Every now and then you guys would go for a swim or just listen to the waves. You felt free. None of it is perfect and who knows how long this will last, but at this moment you were surrounded by your friends and were happy. You turn to look at Levi. You reach for his hand and quickly take it running toward the ocean. You laugh as you practically drag him into the water. The others go back to the little village you had created. All of a sudden Levi dunks you into the water. You fly up gasping for air.
"You little-"
You jump onto his back trying to put him under the water, but fail to do so. You two go on for awhile like this. The moment is full of pure joy. When is the last time I've felt this? After awhile you both get tired and he grabs your waist pulling you close to him. He pulls you into a kiss and you cup his face with your hands. You both lean back eventually and look into each other's eyes. You notice now that his eyes are the same color as the sea. It'll be okay. Things will all work out. The world cannot take your happiness. They took everything, but they can never take what you have with your friends. What you have with Levi.
