"Why do you always have to be late Pat? I am really sick of your attitude... what would have our father said if you had not gotten on the train?" Pa said and slapped her brother's chest with her long glove.
"I'm sorry sis, but don't be so harsh to your brother, there are people, they might see you!" Pat remarked.
"Let them see, they must know how dumb you can be Pat... anyway, our cabin is right here... the next wagon is the second class car Korn, you should find your cabin easily..." Pa said as she opened the door of their cabin.
Pran covered his mouth shocked as he heard the noise of the door shutting. It was clear that the cabin next to his one was Pat and Pa's cabin.
The man sighed and sat down on the small sofa of his cabin. He looked outside again and noticed that the train was slowly leaving the station. The strong wind started to hit the windows of the wagons...
"It looks like a blizzard is coming" the engineer of the locomotive commented as he read the meteorological report of the day. Who knows if it was just literally or figurative as well...
"Done!" Wai commented as the last document was fixed. He got up and took his jacket, he opened the door and walked outside. It was at that moment that another passenger got out of his cabin.
Wai looked at him and remained shocked, the passenger of the cabin next to his one... looked exactly like Korn! Suddenly a loud noise caused by the release of a large amount of steam made him instinctively turn to the head of the train. Korn, who recognized Wai immediately, ran back into his cabin.
Wai finally turned back, certain to see the passenger still in front of him... but nothing, no one was standing there, the door of that cabin was closed as well. Had he just imagine it? Wai shook his head to clear his mind and walked to the smoking car.
Pran was at the end of the wagon, reading a newspaper and tapping with a finger on the wooden table in front of him. Wai walked to him silently and sat down.
"The documents are ready, we can enjoy the voyage now!" Wai remarked. He turned to a waiter, the guy came immediately and asked for an order, Wai told him that he wanted a glass of brandy, Pran was a little surprised by that order... it was quite early for brandy, but he didn't say anything.
As the waiter came back with the glass full of liquor Wai drank it all in one breath.
"Are you alright Wai?" Pran asked preoccupied.
"I know... you must think that I am behaving like a weirdo lately right? I... I must confess it... I am really stressed lately... I feel like the whole world is on my shoulders... for example, just a moment ago as I got out of my cabin I was sure that I saw a guy coming out of his cabin... I swear to god that he looked like Korn! That asshole..."
"Wai... please, have some manners"
"Sorry Pran... but you know it, I cannot bear his presence... the worst part is that after I turned he disappeared! Like a ghost... I don't know what is wrong with me... am I hallucinating?" Wai replied.
"Korn and Pat are on board" Pran wanted to tell for a moment, just to see how his friend could react. However, fearing that Wai could go nuts because of it, he hesitated and replied:
"Well, maybe you should stop drinking, it won't help for sure, it will make things worse actually, don't you agree with me Wai? Put that glass down and go to rest... we will see again at lunch... you have three hours before that... you have all the time you want to sleep and clear your mind..."
"But Pran..." Wai whined.
"Wai, please... do it for me, I'm your friend and you know that I care about you... and if you don't want to do it for your friend then I order you, as your boss, to rest!" Pran added jokingly.
"Come on, I'll accompany you to your cabin, let's go..." Pran encouraged as he stood up. Wai nodded and went to his cabin, followed by Pran who waited until Wai closed the door.
Pran was worried, he sighed and walked back to his room, he locked the door and laid his head on the pillow of the sofa before closing his eyes.
