[TW: ⚠️ Slight Angst⚠️]

Y/N'S POV:

I've been living with the Madrigals for a little over 2 weeks. I've learned each of their gifts. Dolores is super hearing, Luisa has super strength, Julieta can heal people with food, Pepa's mood controls the weather, Isabela can grow anything she wants, and Camilo shapeshift. Abuela is the miracle holder. She doesn't have a gift which is kinda confusing. I thought she had a gift with the way she treats Mira, but she doesn't.

Camilo is still flirting with me. He is constantly bugging me and using Casita against me. One time he shifted into Mirabel to try and see my sketchbook, but he cannot act like Mirabel for his life. I can't say that I hate his presence. It is quite amusing. Sometimes his comments do get to me, but I try my best not to show it.

I'm able to navigate the village by myself now. Occasionally I get lost, but the people here are generally nice and they'll help me navigate. If they don't I'll usually call out to Dolores and she comes to my aid. Her super heading is a blessing for me. She always comes to help me. Because of this, Dolores and I have become pretty close. She told me about a crush she has on this guy in town. She's too anxious to go talk to him which is kinda funny to me. I also learned that she has earplugs that she wears when she sleeps.

I'm currently on my way to the traders' market with Mirabel. Her mother wants us to trade arepas for so new cooking supplies. I've been trying to help Tia Julieta in the kitchen more. She says she appreciates the help even though my job is just getting the ingredients for her. We're both carrying a basket full of goods while we walk.

"Isabela definitely did it on purpose! She's such a perfect selfish little-"

"Mirabel calm down," I laugh.

"Sorry. She just makes me so mad sometimes," Mirabel sighs. I give her a sympathetic smile.

"I get it. Isa definitely shouldn't have told Abuela. Especially since Abuela is, well, you know," I say as we approach the vendor's stand.

"Ya. I know. We're almost at the vendors. My mom is looking for a special rustic set. I'll take care of talking to the vendor. You stay in front and protect the Arepas," She winks at me as she places her basket down. I nod then set my basket down next to hers.

"Hey! Mateo! I'm here for the rustic set. We've got Arepas!" Mirabel calls out as she walks to the back of the stand. I lean against the counter letting the beating sun hit my skin. It is super hot here. I fan myself as I wait for Mirabel to come out.

"Have you heard of that orphan girl that the Madrigal's took in?" I hear a voice. I perk up at the mention of me.

"Oh ya. Poor girl. They say she's been wandering Colombia all alone," another voice answers. The voices are coming from the vendor next to me. I creep over a little bit to listen to their conversation.

"The Madrigals took her in out of pity. I mean she has no benefits for our town and we don't usually except stragglers here," A third voice chimes in. A straggler? Me? As if.

"Ya. I mean who can turn away a helpless girl who was abandoned by their family?"The first voice replies. First of all, how dare they assume that I was abandoned. I mean, I was, but they could've assumed my parents died in a fire or something.

"They're going to kick her out eventually. Especially with her bothering Dolores all the time. That orphan calls for the poor girl almost every day," the 2nd voice sighs. I didn't think I was bothering Dolores. She seemed happy whenever I called for her. Is she faking it? No. She couldn't have.

"I feel more for Camilo. My daughter told me that she saw that girl tagging behind Camilo like a lost puppy a week ago or so. She told me that he was definitely annoyed by her. He probably only tolerates her because he feels bad. Such a sweet kid, "The first voice says with a sigh. Dolores might be annoyed with me, but definitely not Camilo. He's the one who is all over me. Her daughter is just a jealous little wrench. I wasn't even acting like a lost puppy! I had a concussion. Cam was helping me. Camilo isn't just my friend because he feels bad. That's impossible. Right? With the way he treats me so kindly and gently.
