KADEN
day twenty-one
Two days had gone by since the Lunar Pack arrived, two days since my own brother found his mate, it's also been two days since I last saw Leo.A lot had changed during those two days.
Eric refused to let his sister stay here and join our pack, and considering no one had seen even as much as a glimpse of the two since that dinner, it made it even harder for me to convince him to let her stay when she wasn't here to speak her own mind.
He was a real menace that one.
I spent most of my time around the pack house, since there laid my office and the Alpha who was staying in one of the guest rooms. Since I spent my time cooked up in my office a big part of the day, I always looked forward to going home for the day. Sometimes I even packed my stuff away a little faster, just to get home sooner, home to my Serenity.
But she had changed as well.
It wasn't the same Serenity I once came home to. Now, she kept to herself, and she barely spoke even as much as one word to me. It was as if we were back at the very beginning, but even then she was a lot more blooming.
I kept asking her what had gone wrong, what I had done wrong, but she had shut me out completely.
I missed her. I longed for her touch and her silky voice, her breathtaking smile...
She wouldn't even let me hold her at night, and she always kept her clothes on nowadays, even in our bedroom.
Something was wrong, I wasn't that ignorant to not realize, but I couldn't figure out what it was that had taken her away from me, that had made her this distant.
As I got home that day, I felt a little tingly by simply the thought of laying eyes at her again, and I just couldn't wait to see her. The house was quiet, as per usual. I figured my mate was up in her bathtub, enjoying the water on her skin just the way she liked it.
So I walked up the stairs, and entered our bedroom with an expecting smile plastering my lips. I was prepared to walk directly to the bathroom, but that was before I found my mate laying in bed, just where I had left her this morning.
My smile slowly faded from my lips once I realized she had most likely not left the bed all day. She was laying underneath the covers, and the only evident thing that proved that she was indeed under there, was the golden locks that stuck out from the duvet.
"Serenity, darling?"
By the sound of my voice, she shifted under the blanket, but still remained hidden underneath it.
I walked up to her side of the bed, and forced her to reveal herself by pulling the duvet off of her. She laid in my sweats and one of my hoodies, making her drown in them.
