After leaving Luca's and Julie's house, their news of expanding their family was all I could think of. Naturally, I was exhilarated for the two of them. After all, I had known and grown up with Luca since I first started my training at 7 years old, and the day he would find his mate and finally settle down with her was a topic he frequently discussed with me. In fact, I would even dare to say it was his dream even then.
He was never the man to explore his opportunities or find what else the world had to offer him. He was always the one who stayed at home to help his family out, and he never once showed any interest in any kind of girl that passed him, which honestly made me question his sexuality at one point in our early teenage years.
But when he found Julie, or more like Julie found him, it was clear to me that after all those years he had not turned out to be gay, but rather loyal.
I was only eighteen when they found each other, so I was still this arrogant and a bit cocky teenager who gloated in the fact that he was to become Alpha one day a little too much. I'm ashamed of it today, but I can only blame it on the fact that I didn't know any better.
My mind was completely occupied by the thought of Luca starting a family on his own, that I began to imagine the future. He was officially settling down to become a father, and I still felt so far behind him.
Him and Julie had known each other for years already, and now they were expecting. I was so fucking jealous that the irrational, wolf part of me wanted to grab Serenity and pin her to whatever surface I could find so that I could finally put our very own baby in her.
I wanted nothing more than to create something together with her, something of our own flesh and blood that we could raise together. But I wasn't foolish, I was well aware that it was far too early to get Serenity pregnant.
Even though the thought of it made me more excited than anything other in my life.
I was so occupied with my own thoughts that I didn't even notice the sadness looming over my mate's pretty head. But I quickly realized what had been right under my nose when we stepped out of my parked car and she didn't even look back at me before she rushed to get inside the house. My eyebrows furrowed as I hurried after her raging form.
To my surprise, she didn't walk up to our bedroom, but instead turned towards our kitchen. I confusedly closed the door after her and took of my shoes only to find that she had basically kicked of her slippers and left them scurried over the floor. I bent down and set both hers and my shoes onto the shoe-rack, and continued onto following her tracks into the kitchen. I found her roaming through our fridge for something I wasn't sure of, but I could only suspect that it had something to do with meat.
"Serenity-" I called out to her, but she didn't even acknowledge me— "What are you looking for?"
"Meat" was all she said, and obviously I wasn't even a bit surprised
