Percy POV

This is certainly going to be awkward. Triton is known for not liking any of Poseidon's other children so I don't fancy my chances of being in his good books. As me and my father walked through the halls of Atlantis I noticed that they palace seemed to be empty. I looked over at my father and he seemed to have noticed this too as he began running to the throne room. Finally reaching it, we went inside to find Triton pacing back and fourth relaying orders to some servant. We watched as the servant left the room and triton, seemingly not noticing us, began pacing again. Abruptly looking up from his pacing, he spots us and his face momentarily turns red with rage but he instantly composes himself.

"My lord" he said through gritted teeth "I don't mean to be disrespectful, but may I ask where the hell you've been?"

"I was dealing with other important matters" my father responds "what happened here?" You know, I personally wouldn't call sleeping an important matter but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Triton told us all about Hermes coming to Atlantis and how Zeus thought we were plotting against him.

"How the hell has he managed to convince himself of that?" I reply hotly "I swear to god I've got half a mind to kill that bastard!"

"To right you are Perseus" Triton says, to my great confusion, without any resentment in his voice almost as if he were talking to a friend  "to right you are."

Still greatly confused by Tritons tone I turn to my father "what do you plan to do?" I ask him

"yeah!" Triton cuts in "what the fuck is your plan?"

"Zeus will snap out of it" my father says confidently

"oh yeah" Tritons fires back "because he totally snapped out of it last time didn't he. It's only thanks to Perseus here that we are not currently at war with Olympus. So I ask again, what's your plan?"

"Are you questioning the word of your king!" Poseidon roars his face full of rage and his entire body emitting power. Triton got an almost mutinous look in his eyes and for a second I thought he was going to accept Poseidon's unspoken challenge. But seemingly realising that he probably wouldn't win in a fight against the sea god, he backed down and angrily mumbled

"no my lord."

"Good" my fathers voice booms around the room "make sure it stays that way." With those words I watched as Triton picked up his trident, turned, and left the room.

Triton POV

That absolutely bitch! That mother fucking fool has the nerve to vanish during a crisis unlike we've ever seen in a millennium. Then after finally deciding to show up, has just about the worst plan to fix things I've ever seen. And when I point out the fact that his plan is dumb and he is going to destroy his city if he goes through with it, he decides that it's perfectly acceptable to basically threaten to kill me if I didn't agree with him. After storming out of the room I go to the one place I can relax, the palace gardens. I remember when I was younger me and my mother would sit in the garden looking at the flowers and watching all the marine life swim around us. While doing so, my mother would tell me stories and myths from every part of the world. I remember how I used to love sitting in this garden hearing her tell me amazing tales of epic battles and courageous heroes. But that's all gone now, my mother Has departed to wherever faded immortals go and I've been left completely alone. As I was sitting I noticed someone entering the garden. Thinking it might be the king wanting to restart out argument I mentally prepare myself for a fight, but as the figure turns the corner I realise it's only Perseus. Sitting down next to me, we sit in silence for a few moments before he says

"nice place you got here huh."

"Yes" I respond "it is beautiful."

"It seems like you come here often"

"I do often come here, it's the only place I can relax and truly calm myself."

"By that I take it this place has some special meaning to you?"

"Yes it does, my mother and I used to sit here all the time while she would tell me stories."

"Sounds nice" Perseus reply's "I take it you loved  your mother then."

"More than I could possibly explain, she was by far the greatest women I've ever met."

"I feel the same way about my mother, she is so kind and bakes the best food in the world."

"Well, it seems like we have something in common"

"if you don't mind me asking what happened to your mother, I take it she's not around anymore."

"Yes she isn't, she faded around the time of the fall of the western Roman Empire."

"I'm sorry for your loss, I really am"

"it's fine I'm pretty much used to not having her around by now, but I have been incredibly lonely without her."

"You know" Percy says sadly "if there one thing I've learned from all the fighting I've done through my Life it's that you can never truly get over the death of someone you care about. The pain will always be inside you, but you must also remember that your love ones will always live on in your heart. We've got to learn to move on with our lives while keeping the memory of our loved ones in our hearts."

"I'll keep that in mind" I respond trying very hard not to tear up.

"Good" Percy says standing up, turning to me before leaving he says "listen, you seem to be a pretty chill dude so" Percy stuck out his arm "Brothers?"

"Brothers" I confirm shaking his hand vigorously. Smiling happily he turns and leaves the garden, just before leaving however he calls over his shoulder to me

"for what it's worth, I agree with you about dads plan being shit. I'll try to convince him to see reason." And with that Percy rounds the corner and walks off leaving me happier than I've been in a long time.
