I'm back. After about a months wait I have finally returned to finish the story. There should only be a few more chapters left in the story and I'm pretty sure I know how I want it to end. Love you guys. Have a good night.
Percy POV
It started with a bang. It felt like something had crashed against the city walls. "Where the hell is that coming from?" I ask the nearest soldier
"It came at us from the north, but our scouts have also spotted an armed group approaching us from the east."
"Do we have troops defending the eastern side of the city?"
"Yes sir"
"Where's Triton?"
"He's going over the final preparations with the members of your fathers court"
"Well tell him to get the hell over here right now!"
"On it" he said running off to find Triton.
Turning back round, I was met with a very different sight than earlier. The bang from the north had turned into a full scale army. It was led by what looked to be automatons.
"Damm you Hephaestus!" I mutter "Everyone! Shields up, Prepare yourselves!"
As they got closer, I could see who exactly this army was made of. It was unlike any thing I'd ever seen. Demeter had conjured up these plant demon things with long green tentacle stuff for arms and curved green fangs. Artemis had seemingly summoned animals to help them, as wolves and bears swelled there ranks further. Hephaestus must have made an air bubble of some sorts because the water wasn't affecting them.
"On my count charge. 5...4...3...2...1...Attack!"
We charged. It was oddly thrilling, running at the enemy knowing that we either win or die. I was on autopilot, it was just cut, slash, stab repeat, over and over again. I couldn't exactly tell if we were winning or not, but it seemed like we were pushing them back. After what seemed like forever, we won out and the attacking force retreated.
"Great job men. Fall back inside the city walls. And I want to know how the fight on the eastern side is going."
"Sir" said a breathless soldier running towards me "we need your help. The fight in the east is going badly and we're now being attacked from the south!"
"Alright. Men! Move out and help the fight on the eastern side of the city. I'll go and help the troops down south."
And I was off once again, tearing through the damaged streets that burned with Greek fire. Pretty soon I arrived on the southern side of the city, and the site that greeted me was barbaric. Our forces had been decimated, not a single soldier was still alive. What's worse, it seemed that the enemy had beheaded them all and were in the process of burning their bodies. Composing myself, I made one of the hardest decisions of my life and chose to abandoned the southern district of the city. Running back through the streets of Atlantis, I found myself at the eastern battlefield. Things had gone well on this front, as I was met with Triton and his soldiers discussing something and dusting themselves off from the battle.
"Bad news Triton." I said "We were forced to abandon the southern district of the city. Our troops were utterly destroyed."
"Fucking hell! That's just our bloody luck! Now they've penetrated our walls, we have no choice but to fall back to the city. We'll fall back to the middle ring and set our troops up all around it. We must not lose control of the middle ring. Am I clear!"
"Yes sir" chorused through the crowd of Mermen as they picked up their weapons and began marching back through the city walls.
"You know" Triton said "it would really fucking help if the king could get his arse back here."
